IR-1/CR-1 interview to visa wait time?

Hi all, who else here is in Aus waiting for their i-130 or IR-1/CR-1 to go through? I'm the USC. My wife and I are waiting nearly 10 months since we submitted our i130 and are still waiting on NOA2. 

 

Seems Sydney is the only place interviews are held, so I guess when the time comes we'll fly over. We are planning a visit to my family in early April next year. The plan is that if she gets her interview notice, she will fly back to Melbourne (or Sydney), do her medical & interview, then re-join me in the US ASAP. Reading some of the forums here I'm worried about being separated longer than we think. Can anyone share their experience of how much notice they were given for the interview, then how long it took to get their visa afterward? We hope there'll be enough time for her to get the intervieww notice, fly back and do the medical, then interview.

Thanks for the info! Yes, we are both in melbourne. We want to visit my family in the US to set a few things up (I have a house there) as it's taking so long. I need to start job hunting and can best do that in person. Our hope was to get the interview notice while overseas. She can fly back to melbourne, do her medical, then to syd for interview, then back to US when she gets her passport back. But based on what you said that could be a month or more?
