It is quite common for the embassy in Islamabad to treat people with disrespect and try to scare them into admitting some type of wrong doing. They tried to frighten and shock my husband 4 years ago and from what I hear they are still doing it today.

I have posted on this subject before but people here don't want to accept how brutal an interview can be with them. They are trying to find fraud anyway they can. It's not personal they just feel they are doing their jobs.

The fact that you were at the interview looks good and there is really no safe place in Pakistan for Americans but some places are better than others. All you can do now is wait. They may do a field investigation if they really feel that he is still married. They will send men out to talk to his friends and neighbors. This bullying during the interview does work. They got a friend's husband to admit that he was married to a Pakistani woman and had kids that his American wife didn't know about. Visa denied and friend's heart broken from fraud. The embassy does all this to protect both us and our country from these con men and women.

I totally get why they are doing this especially if they have a lot of fraud from the country but it doesn't make it any easier for someone innocent...I trust my husband 100% and hope they do a field investigation.  I talk to my husband until he sleeps and I wake him up in the morning..I also sometimes call him in between to share things with him if there is no way he is living with anyone.  Even his coworkers know about his divorce and his marriage to me.  I'm so hopeful that they do.

That normally happens when they are about to issue a visa, did with my K1 although I know your visa is different.  Taking your husbands passport is a good sign too.  I hope you hear some good news soon.

Your stats is and will remain in AP until they issue your visa. It could be weeks, months, or years before that happens. There is no timeframe for completion of AP.

What you can tell is when you check your case status the last date entered is the last date an update was made to your case.

With Islamabad anything out of the ordinary or anything not tidy can and often does cause delay and land people in AP.

My husband is also from Quetta but I know when I visited him in January. The consulate general of the consulate in Chicago told me not to visit or travel to Quetta, which we didn’t but I’ve told my husband that I want to go there sometime to see where he grew up and lives with his family. But I also think their interrogation of them was uncalled for and they were scruntinized for the divorce, which I feel is unfair but I know it’s outside of their cultural norms too usually.

I felt very safe in Quetta and was surrounded by family.  I know there are things that happen there but things happen everywhere.   The Consular asked me not to ever go back to Quetta but at this point I don't know when my husband is coming home so I'm planning on going there again in about 6 months.   I have family there that I care about...

I am speechless... I dont even know where to start

in my opinion, your husband was scrutinized because of his divorce and the area he is from because Quetta has a militant/terrorist problem. Extreme vetting ?

Divorce is not common in Pakistani culture so i guess its more scrutinized ??

i have quite a few family members who immigrated to Canada and USA in the past 15 years.. I have never heard of horrible stories i am hearing nowadays. This is so bad

hopefully you passed their interrogation and you get visa soon

I hope so too...Thank you!

Yes I know.  I did all that I could in hopes of preventing it but I guess it was inevitable.  I don't mind AP if they feel the need to check things let them check but they told me they were recommending for return to USCIS but the auditor had the final say.  I'm confused on what basis they could have for returning it and hoping they just did it to see if I would change my mind.  They said I would have time to decide if I wanted to still pursue this...like its a game and I'll give up.  I married this man for life what other choice would I possibly have?  I made a promise in front of God to love him until our last breath and that's what I intend to do!!

Sorry for the late reply, it is likely too late but you have a VERY slim window of opportunity to try to get a second interview before your file is returned to USCIS

You need to contact the embassy right away asking for them to reconsider their decision and indicate you would be willing to come again for another interview, it might also help to get your elected official involved to make the request

However, if your file has already been returned to USCIS, there is nothing you can do at this point except wait for a NOIR to come in the mail

at that point you will have a short time period (~30 days) to respond with any additional evidence as to why your case should be reconsidered, then your file would be resent to the embassy again for another interview

From the timelines I have seen it is generally about a year to another interview, but could be quite a bit less or more hard to predict
