Photos are of little utilitarian value so don't over do it

Good to know. We will go easy and focus on all the financial co-mingling.

Does anyone know if she can change her passport to her married name at the Chicago consulate outreach in Maplewood next month? We have asked for an appointment but haven't heard back yet. We have the ROM and her old passport, obviously. She wants to get a new one in her married name.

They can keep everything, something, or nothing. I consider photos as 'supplemental' and other documents rank higher than photos, such as:

- co-ownership of apartment lease or house mortgage

- joint bank accounts and credit cards

- joint utility bills

- on same health and life insurances as well as you two as sole beneficiaries on both of your life insurance policies

- joint car ownership and insurances; same goes for home/renter's insurance

I am sure I have missed a few but you can search on this site and on the internet for more. You want to show them that you two are a real unit and co-mingling finances + adult responsibilities is the best way to do so. If you two have a baby, that typically is the greatest evidence. 😃

Got it - thanks! No baby for us - we are old! But we should have everything else covered.

We are changing at the outreach.   Outreach appointments fill up fast so I hope you can get one.

When did you request an appointment? We just noticed this weekend that there was an outreach so just submitted our request Saturday. I could not find anywhere that the appointment slots were full. Hope we get one, too.

We did back in June when I first noticed it.  Ours is at 9am so I think we were one of the first.   If I remember,  the reply took only a couple of days

We heard back - didn't get an appointment. All full.

Do you know how often they hold the outreach in MN and how did you find out about it? We'd like to avoid a trip to Chicago.

Annually and sheer absolute luck.  We were getting ROM forms and caught it on the website.   I don't know if or when they would do it in Wisconsin,  Iowa or the Dakotas but it would be better than Chicago

Ok, thanks. I guess we should check the consulate website daily.

7lb is an exaggeration... just saying that you need a lot 😀

If you don't have a whole lot to show, that's fine too! As long as you have enough proof for bonafide marriage, all good!

LOL ok, glad that it was an exaggeration.

We have plenty - joint accounts, him as beneficiary on my retirement fund, co-signers on credit cards, shared amazon accounts, shared "ownership" of our pet, paying mortgage from joint account, records & photos from travelling together, joint invites to weddings and stuff like that.  I was just thinking that all of that barely fills 50 pages of a binder.

We are recommended for approval on the spot :) Time to just wait.

How soon do you guys get " Card being produced" notice?

So the whole process is nice and easy. We were asked for 2018 tax return from us, and don't even need joint sponsor's stuff at all. Didn't ask to see photos or any joint evidences at all either. I did submit for new medical and the officer took it. We went through the I-485 information and had me sign it. Then only other questions are: 1. How did you two meet? 2. (Ask my husband) did you get to see her family overseas? Then that's it.

The whole process is quick. Hope to get the card soon!
