You make it sound way more streamlined than it is. It's choppy and very manual. It's all very disjointed.

They just updated the processing times. It's now 16 months to 33.5 months. I mean... seriously...

We're happy to get the interview on or after our 2 year anniversary. That way we won't have to deal with filing the I-751.

I see. That's unfortunate. I am just trying to understand how this works. I am really puzzled. Someone from NBC has to talk to some one at field office and transfer the file. I just wish they would be more transparent and tell me how this works. It is so puzzling but I see where you are coming from. It is very random and inconsistent. Sad.

The processing times for employment based applications are at 13.5 Months to 23.5 Months for all field offices in America. I wouldn't read anything into that. But Minneapolis is very slow. Sucks.. big time.

Sure, it's 16 to 31 months for family based. Same thing.

The way that I understood the process is like this - the field office requests the file for interview and the NBC schedules the interview. If your case just reached the "Ready for interview" stage in August 2018, you might have a long way ahead of you OR not. There is no way to know.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

Thank you. I have an infopass coming up. Let's see what they have to say.

Thank you to everyone for your advice about our green card.  My husband had his InfoPass appointment today.  At the appointment, they said that the officer who conducted our interview forgot to click "approved" in the computer system.  Our file was moved to the storage room for approved cases, so if we hadn't made an InfoPass appointment, we don't know how long it would have been before someone touched our case again.  We are so glad we did not listen to the advice we received over the phone (wait five months and then open an inquiry), and that instead we made an InfoPass appointment.

We have tried to approach this process with patience and understanding (especially since we knew our case was being handled by one of the busiest field offices in the country), but we are also learning that we have to be proactive and seek answers if something doesn't seem right.

The InfoPass officer sent a memo to the officer who conducted our interview telling him to click "approved" in the system, so we are hopeful that we will see an update on our green card soon.  Thank you again for all of your advice.  :)

Is anyone aware if all this waiting time will be considered as part of the 2 year temporary GC period? Can we directly just get the GC? It's really dumb to wait 2.5 years to get the GC and then file another petition to get the conditions removed. Who knows how long that's going to take. Also what about citizenship? Does it count in the 3 years?

When you are married over 2 years, you will receive the 10 years green card. Counting from the day you have green card to 3 years later, you have right to apply for the citizenship

I thought that was from the day you file your petition - requesting citizenship. Gosh, good to know. Also, it sounds like we are in for a long wait. My priority date is April 2nd and my status changed to "interview ready to be scheduled" only this september. So I'm hoping that I get the 10 year GC directly.

We filed 3-16-18 and the status changed to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview" on 04-23-18. Then, again on 08-09-18, it changed again to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview". We are just taking this in strides. My husband has his combo card. That's really all he needs for now.

Hang in there.

Kcp,

there is really no way to know. It took a very long time for your case to reach the "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" stage. Ours took 39 days to get to that point. Did you get RFEs?

How are they scheduling interviews? Are employment based applications prioritized over marriage based applications? or everyone in a single queue? I am really frustrated. L2 officers seem to know nothing about the case. I called and they read the processing times out of the uscis web page and told me 16 to 33 months. Lol. I already know that and I also know those are not accurate. It's like waiting for a miracle or something.. this interview scheduling.. huh!

Well, it looks like we won't be interviewing in Minneapolis-St. Paul after all...I've just accepted a new job so it looks like we'll be transferring our case to the Buffalo, NY field office in February.  I'll certainly be sad to leave MSP (my hometown!) but can't say I'm disappointed to be moving to a 7-to-16.5 month processing time.

Ours also took a really long time to get to the "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" stage.  We sent our AOS paperwork in June of 2017 and didn't get "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" until March of 2018.
