Minneapolis-St. Paul MN Office AOS Filers

My husband is the AOS applicant; we're March '18 filers and have yet to hear anything about EAD/AP/485, which was to be expected given the stats we're seeing.  I'll admit, it's awfully depressing to see other March K-1 AOS filers with green cards in hand already!  Our status online remains at "We recieved your biometrics fee..." as of 3/21/18, so looks like we won't be getting the fingerprint review update that many haven't.  There's a decent chance of us moving out of state within a year, so chances of the MSP office *actually* processing our case may be slim...

Everyone,

 

it looks like the Minneapolis Field Office picked up the pace. By that, I mean that it processed twice as many applications than in each previous quarter AND it received fewer applications, as well. I think this is very promising. The numbers also showed that the Field office didn't necessarily prioritize employment-based AOS applications. 

Maybe they stopped interviewing applicants and petitioners separately?

I believe that this is true.My application was April 2017 and just had my interview last June 2018.I wouldn't be surprise if they will consume the 2 month period to process the green card after the interview.Good luck to all MN filers.

It didn't feel like an interview. The IO was friendly and we were asked the basic like how we met, etc...There was not a lot of applicants in the waiting area. After the interview, she told me that after they received my new medical exam result they will mail me back my green card within 2 months. My medical exam was delivered on the 9th of July so hoping the process can get faster than a 2 month period. Any progress with your application?

Did you need a new medical as your old one was over 12 months? 

I had a medical in Jan 2017 and filed AOS in May 2017 and have heard that you need to file for AOS within 12 months of having the medical to which we did but then some people at the interview are being told there medical is 12 months old and need a new one? 

We are now at the interview stage after a long time waiting.

Can anyone recommend a good MN doctor to have a medical done here that isn't too expensive? The first place I tried  for a quote they were wanting $400+ 

I went to Roseau Mn and my bill was $222

Yes that's true. You need a new medical exam if the old one was 12 months old  You need to bring it to the interview. I had to go get my medical exam the next day after the interview. And waited a week to get the result. My husband and I drove to Roseau MN which I found on USCIS website. It cost me $222. The first time I had in April 2017 was $600.

That's good to know it seems like some people get requested a new medical where others dont. Did the IO ask you if you had a new medical at your interview. After filling your medical how long did it take for you to receive your green card in hand? 

 

Unsure whether to do medical before or after interview as some people have not needed to get a new medical done.

That is what I hoped for too before going there. That I wouldn't need a new one. I took a chance. So what I did was I scheduled my medical exam week before the interview which was the next day. 

 

I haven't received my green card yet. It has been a week since my mail was delivered to the office and the IO told me the green card be mailed within 2 months after they get my medical result.

Did you try this place? I volunteered here in grad school. They serve the immigrant community. I am sure they do these medicals often.
