Hey everybody I'm new here.  Im in the us military, deployed to poland and i met the love of my life. We've been together 5 months now, we're engaged and now considering a k1 visa. Any tips or suggestions?  Should i hire a lawyer? Appreciate all the help.

Hiring counsel is a personal choice.  VJ is a DIY website and most everyone here is doing it without.

Top of any page, go the the guides and read!!!  Then decide

YMMV

Me and my fiance also met in Poland, we filled petition by ourselves, no problems so far, petition approved, no request for evidence, waiting for the case to reach US Embassy in Poland for interview. You can fill petition by youself guys, save lawyer money for Green Card expenses, plane tickets or anything else you will need during immigration procces, is not cheap ;) good luck!

Take time to review this website.  Click on each tab and read.  I spent 2 months researching prior to completing paperwork and applying.  With some simple organization and paperwork completion you should be able to handle it yourself as many many others do.  Read, research, and use this website.  It is very helpful.

Read up in the K1 forum:  http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/80-k-1-fiancee-visa-process-amp-procedures/

There’s an example if you look in the guides that I posted the link to.  It’s the first thing listed in the K-1 visa example forms.  It’s going to take some research on your part use the links that were provided for you

I'm a newbie here so I don't have much knowledge but I've heard it goes faster on a K-3. How long are you in Poland? Maybe it would be worth it getting married here first...
Best of luck!
