Hi there

The majority of my O1 material is with my lawyer, but a friend of mine lost their job and is no longer able to write me a letter of intent. I now only have 2, which doesn’t seem like enough (I’m a writer btw). Anyone else here a writer/journo who did an O1? How many letters did you have?

Also, did any anyone in my field obtain their green cards this way?

Thanks!

It depends on the job and the field. I know someone who had 10 letters.

You should ask your lawyer.

Consider that getting an O-1 means you do not have to go through labor certification for a green card so your credentials have to be credible.

Hey, thanks for the response. What field were they in?

I had 21 Deal Memo's / Job offers over the course of the next 3 years (I included job offers outside the US ;) - it is important that they see you are busy/needed/respected in your field - and you can make that case with not only jobs inside the US but also outside of the country. I mean, think about it: O1 is a dual intent visa, but you don't have to move to the US and can travel in and out with it as often as you like).

I got approved after an RFE

I had about 50 pages of press/publications (for the RFE I made an Excel sheet with all the circulation info and unique visitors on the websites of the publications, so I hit them with numbers) and 14 Letters of Recommendation (re-wrote 8 for the RFE and got an additional one).

I submitted 4 invoices that were 10k or higher.

I am a photographer and Art Director. Hope that helps!

I had 8 Letters, the lawyer rejected 1 of the 8 since it was a bit light compared to the other 7.  I had no issues getting my O1B.  I work in the entertainment industry and had about 15 film credits at the time and worked for a few major studios so having a big name on the job application probably helped [I was already working for them under an H1B].

2 Letters seems light to me unless the rest of your evidence is super strong, I'd seek more letters but that is my opinion.

Did Harvey provide one?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
