Do I need a new medical?

Hi all

 

My medical that I had in London at Knightsbridge for the K-1 was December last year - so we're probably about a year since that date. We're 5 and a half-ish months into the AOS process and are just waiting for the Philly field office to schedule an interview.

 

Do I need to get a new medical performed since it's been one year since the last one?

The dating on the medical is based on the date the application is filed and not how long it takes them to adjudicate

The overseas medical doesn't have an expiration date in that sense, all you need to think about is to file for AOS within 1 year of the date of the medical. Which you did. Nowhere on USCIS website have I ever seen anything that says that the overseas medical expires after a year from the medical date or a year after the AOS was filed.

 

However, not all USCIS employees understand this, so there has been cases where people get RFEs when the medical was done more than a year ago or when the medical was submitted one year ago. Sometimes they just hand out incorrect RFEs.
