I had my N400 interview at the Newark field office today. I passed the civics and English exams and at the end the officer told me that she still needs to review my file and therefore a decision cannot be made yet. She indicated as such on the N-652 and said it would probably take about a month to be approved. When I got home and checked my case status, however, it had two updates:

  • Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

  • We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.

Does this mean the officer recommended me for approval? Just seems strange since she marked a decision could not be made yet on my form.

@roddie2k  I just checked and it said estimated time approx 9 months for my case.....I filed in June 2020.    But from what I've seen here, looks like these timelines dont mean anything

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

Applied July 21,2020, estimated shows 7 months. Guess they calculate based on some formula and what was the latest status overall for that Office a month ago. My office showed 9-15.5 months few days back now it says 14.5-16.5 months.

Happy to report I am now a U.S. citizen.

Oath Ceremony was this morning at Newark Field Office (15th Floor). My letter said to show up at 7:30am, but the ceremony was only at 8:00am.

Gave the form filled out at check-in and took a seat and wait for all the people from that time slot show up and check-in. Shortly before 8:00am, an officer came in the room with a pack of envelopes. He called all our names and those who had their name called went to the ceremony room (same floor).

We all had seats spaced 6 feet apart. A last word from the officer for practical details and then we all stood up to take the Oath. At the end, everyone applauded as we were citizens!

Good luck to everyone still waiting. The wait is worth it!

Hi! Did your officer tell you why they need to review your file? Any updates on this?
