OK I have reached out to an attorney and have an appointment next week. Thanks again !

Please make sure the attorney you have contacted is an immigration attorney and has experience with waivers.  Lizz Cannon specializes in waivers.  It's nothing simple.  Our waiver packet included a 10 page brief and 27 exhibits.

The I-601 waiver is filed with USCIS not the embassy.  I would suggest contacting Lizz Cannon   http://www.lizzcannonlaw.com/   She gives free consults.

I suggested Heather Poole but am sure either would do a good job.

Any other arrests in your life that could make you inadmissible?

Mentioned in earlier threads.

Yes.  She doesn't give free consults but yes she also has tremendous experience and a good track record.

If you read up on 601 you should be able to do it yourself.  With your daughters condition and that it was 33 years ago, I feel you will be able to get a waiver.  $4K is quite a lot.  I would have recommended a lawyer if your case was complicated but it does not seem so based on the information you provided.

07/27/17 - K1 packet sent at the end of day.

07/31/17 - NOA1

03/22/18 - NOA2

08/28/18 - expected date for medical completion - Sputum test was needed

09/22/18 - anticipated interview date

Do you have experience with waivers?

I had almost filed 601 for my fiance for her TB condition.  However, by the time I started it, the time we would have saved would not much so I did not send in the papers.

The OP has a valid reason plus 33 years have passed for 3 grams of it.  Nowadays stance seems to be little soft for medical use of marijuana.  If free advise can be had then its ok, but $4 K seems too much.  If needed USCIS will ask for additional information.

BTW 601 comes with $930 fee so thats is in addition to what a lawyer may charge.

Can not understand how anybody who has read the OP's posts could suggest anything other than a Lawyer.

I agree. If the waiver goes wrong, is not filed correctly etc. that was it. Ever getting access to the US again will be hard. Even if you have to pay, it will be nothing in the sence of getting your visa and having no problem.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

I remember your previous threads, and how there was another charge you'd mentioned (in those threads) other than just the drug charge...both convictions are still taken quite seriously even though they happened a while back---it's good that you are heeding the advice this time to contact a lawyer to help you...just make sure to tell the lawyer the full info about both charges so they can fully assist you.  Best of luck.
