No, I am not. There is no evidence that she was even aware of the Dossier before everyone else in Jan 2017.  And if the campaign did  finance oppo research there is no legal, ethical or traditional breach here.

That's right, she funneled those campaign dollars through her lawyer and called them legal fees.  Interesting how they do things like that to hide it from prying eyes.  I realize that the MDL is all but happy to apologize for her actions, but if I were one of the folks prosecuted for doing much less relative to mishandling classified materials I would be seething, but I guess she is special.

:bonk:

Btw, the compiling of the information may have started with a GOP donor, but the foreign agent Steele was hired by the Hillary campaign.  Wasn't the MDL railing Trump relative to possibly colluding with a foreign agent during the campaign?

Who paid for it?

During the Republican primaries, a donor opposed to Mr. Trump becoming the party’s presidential candidate retained a research firm called Fusion GPS to unearth potentially damaging information about Mr. Trump. The donor has never been identified, but several possible suspects have denied responsibility, including officials from the so-called super PACs that supported the rival campaigns of Senator Marco Rubio of Florida and former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida.

After Mr. Trump secured the nomination, Fusion GPS was hired on behalf of Mrs. Clinton’s campaign and the D.N.C. by their law firm, Perkins Coie, to compile research about Mr. Trump, his businesses and associates — including possible connections with Russia. It was at that point that Fusion GPS hired Mr. Steele, who has deep sourcing in Russia, to gather information.

If you are going to quote the NYT at least try to get current info

The Washington Free Beacon notified the House Intelligence Committee of the hiring on Friday and then published a statement saying it paid Fusion GPS to research “multiple candidates in the Republican presidential primary, just as we retained other firms to assist in our research into Hillary Clinton.” The website makes clear it doesn’t see anything wrong with the practice, noting that since it was launched in 2012 it “has retained third-party firms to conduct research on many individuals and institutions of interest to us and our readers.’’ But the Free Beacon staunchly denied it had anything to do with the dossier that Fusion GPS ultimately wrote up.

The point of the article excerpt was to show that it was the Hillary campaign that paid for the foreign agent Christopher Steele.  It is irrelevant who paid FusionGPS first unless you can prove that FusionGPS repackaged that research when the Hillary campaign came a calling.  If it did, then FusionGPS may have been in breech of contract if the WFB had contractual ownership of the research when they paid for it.

I did notice that you did not comment on the fact that it was actually the Hillary campaign that was working with a foreign agent, Christopher Steele, who either wrote a work of fiction or worked with Russian contacts on the dossier.  I keep hearing from the MDL that Trump colluded with the Russians, and it seems apparent that it was the Hillary campaign that actually was with some pretty concrete evidence.

Your point about irrelevance and repackaging makes no sense. It was not just the Hillary campaign it was the Fusion GPS with another client that actually represented conservative interests.  You posted outdated material.

where do you see proof that Hillary's campaign was working with Steele?  AND

Why do you thinking the bonking head guy is effective for anything?

It has been proven that Hillary through her lawyer contracted FusionGPS and that was when Steele was brought on board.  I know when we hire consultants to do research for us we expect original work, not repackaged work they did for another customer.  If you cannot see that the work paid for by the WFB, and that paid for by the Hillary campaign are not independent, then I do not know what to tell you.  If you have proof FusionGPS just took the work they did for WFB and gave it to the Hillary campaign then please provide it because the link you provided does not prove that.

The NYTimes.  I suppose that is acceptable.  Btw, your “more current” source did not refute the hiring of Steele by the Hillary campaign.

The link was already provided.  The link you posted only clarified the initial FusionGPS customer, but it did not refute that Clinton was the one who paid for the foreign agent.

I thought The NY Times wasn't credible? Or is that just when they criticize Trump?

Exactly, the same way the polls are fake unless they show Trump above 43 % in which case he tweets them out
