So I had my medical today. I booked it yesterday and I got it for today - their only appointment left before they close for Christmas. I managed to scramble together all the documents needed as my interview date is for the 8th January and I was told by the NVC I must have my medical before my interview. Knightsbridge clinic in London only had one appointment, today or one in the new year and I felt it best to book sooner.....oooh I wish I hadn't. This meant I didn't have ample time to really research what to expect.

Well, I went ahead and admitted to TRYING marijuana when I was 18 (32 now), I didn't want to lie and I knew she would know if I was as she was clearly trained to "catch people out". Also I was a bit freaked out by a question I had seen on the paperwork, the sheet meant for the doctors, that said "do you believe the patient has been dishonest with their answers?"

I know I am a complete fool for admitting it but I did. My worry now is that I will fail the drug test as I have taken CBD oil in the last 45 days. Will this show in the drug test?  It's completely legal in the UK but I am shaking with worry now.

I can't stop crying and freaking out that I have ruined our chances to be together :(:(:( I know I am an idiot, you don't have to tell me. But, I wanted to be honest and now I feel like I will be punished for that which is just crushing since we have spent so much time apart already. We have been together 4 years and started our visa over 18months ago.

Do you get to find out if you fail the medical before the interview or do you get told at your interview? I am so sick with worry.

First, your instinct to be honest and tell the truth is correct. Don't ever regret this. You want to be totally honest in all applications and interviews throughout this process.

Next, I believe you're told the results of the medical at the interview. I know this was the case in Colombia. This might not be the case at all embassies so you might want to search Visa Journey threads with the key word "Knightsbridge" to get this answer.

Next, the CBD oil might show up in a drug test, it might not. If you fail the test then you need to explain why. If you do fail the test or if the doctor feels that you weren't honest, then you might get a rejection based on the failed test or previous drug use. This is not the end of the world. Usually it's a 1 year ban, which would delay you but would not be permanent. I've also heard of a 3 month ban. This is not worth freaking out about. Just go through the process and work with whatever result they give to you.  Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response. I don't think I could have bombed the medical any more I did, I came across as very nervous I think...because I was... and the doctor's bedside manner was like nothing I'd ever experienced. I also forgot to mention that I sometimes take prescribed NSAIDs. The doctor did ask if I took any medication but my mind never even thought about my pain killers that I only occasionally take for menstrual pain. I am now worried they're going to show up in my urine as a false positive. Worry worry worry.

A 1 year ban just feels like the end of the world especially if I am unable to even travel and visit the states. We've been together 4.5 years and married for 2.5 years and the visa process feels like it has just already been taking so long. I know I need to not freak out but it's easier said than done :(

Thank you so much...I'm so emotional right now I just burst into tears reading that. I'm not religious but I've been "praying" so to speak. The Dalai Lama quote is quite correct, there's no point in worry but it's so hard not to. I will keep everyone updated.
