Hello my fiancee arrived in the US from Vietnam on a K1 visa and we have gotten married.

we noticed on the passport for Vietnam they put the name in the order of   Last Name/ Middle Name / First Name.

On the US passport they put the names in the order Last Name/First Name/Middle Name.

So on the K1 visa they put her middle name as her first name to match her passport.

So on our marriage Certificate we put the names in the same order as her visa so that they would all match. So we put her middle name as her first name.

I am not sure if I should have done this or not. Now that I am filling out the I-693 form and I-485 form I am not sure if I should put the middle name as her first name so that they all match each other. I am afraid if they look back at earlier documents before getting the K1 visa they will see that the name is backwards.

any advise would be great.  I have heard other vietnamese have the same problem because of the name order in passport .

thanks

She doesn't have a U.S. passport, just a visa. Use the same order as the U.S. is doing. Too many Vietnamese start messing around with the order of the names and changing last names after marriage, etc. I see this often and it leads to problems. Just be consistent. Don't go changing her names until you get green card (10 year). Go with the U.S. order. It doesn't matter if they are correct or not - they call the shots.

Not sure why there is confusion: complete the form as you would normally.

Last Name blank put Last Name

Middke Name blank put Middle Name

First Name blank put First Name

You do have a legit question so just wait for someone with experience more recent to answer back with you. Alot of people are having the same issue with the middle name being the first name when the paperwork is done. I know the paperwork they sent to my fiance was exactly like what you said. And from the research i have done, this is how they are going to do it from now on so it matches the vietnamese passport (they did this around a year now i believe). I havent gotten to the AOS so i cant comment much about it. If you find out how to do it, please post an update for future reference. Thanks
