What is faster to get to into the US? K1 or CR1?

Look at what you are saying. Just because something happened to you does not mean it will happen the same with others.

For example, citizens of the UK can enter the US without applying for a tourist visa. It is called a VWP or visa waiver program. There are about 40 countries that don't need a visa to enter the US. But guess what, all of the other nearly 200 countries of the world has to have a visa.

You have to have a GLOBAL mindset when dealing with immigration. What you go through during your immigration journey will be greatly different from someone from, say, Nicaragua.

We are simply telling you that a person coming in on a K1 can have difficulty obtaining a driver's license. We say this from experience. My own wife had difficulty herself even though she had a DL from her country as well as an International Driving Permit!

Sure! But I know of others who came to the US on a K1 and they live in different states and they did the same as me.

You shouldnt have said "You can not drive in the US" - Because clearly some of us can. Not all maybe (Sadly) but it isnt impossible.

Never said that.

Kinda did say that

"If an immigrant does not have status yet, like on the K1, the DMV will not issue a driver's license until they get a green card or at least an EAD."

YMMV

Post the whole paragraph to provide context. That was in reference to me stating if the immigrant can't use their country's DL and not having any legal status in the US.

I never said, "You can not drive in the US." as @londergirl indicated. In fact, in my first post in this thread I said,

Some countries allow for foreigners to drive using their foreign driver's license for a short duration of time. Many don't.

All my friends was driving on their driverslicenses from Europe in the US, not an issue at all.

It wasn't an issue because they are either visitors or they weren't stopped by the police for a random (or not so random) check.

Visitors can can use their foreign license here but residents need a license from the state.

In the interests of "getting your facts right", each state sets its own laws on driving regulations. Some states do not allow K-1 people to have a license until AOS is complete. Good for you that you don't live in one of those states.

Timeline in brief:

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

omfg whats with you! I have just copied what you wrote in your first comment.
Let me paste it here for you my friend. You are writing that people on K1 will not be able to drive!

"The visa process is neither quick, easy nor cheap and while the K1 is a few months faster than the CR1 visa, there are several con's to it like having to go through AOS after you marry within the 90day window of your fiance entering the US on the K1 visa, not being able to work/drive/travel internationally, etc...until the beneficiary gets EAD/AP approved while they wait for the AOS which means they are stuck at home not able to do anything really for several months."

Here you go! Your welcome!

Also I just read online that you can drive with your European license for up to one year in the US.

Can you please let me know what states exactly where you can not apply for a drivers license? I would like to look into it actually if you can just provide that to me.
I mean, ofcourse you need a Social security number but you are entitled to that anyway with a K1.

That wasn't me. That was @Prystine who you are quoting.

Listen, let's get pass this. Seems like you now understand the fact that being able to get a DL is not the same for everyone. It was easy for you and that is great. But many people struggle with it.

You need to calm down and not attack people and read fully as what I stated above is IN FACT quite accurate for MANY people that they CANNOT legally drive because they can't get the DL without the EAD approval. This is a GENERAL list of Con's for the K1 that they can run into as you are quite literally in limbo for several months regarding your legal status. Even getting your SSN can be difficult because if you wait until its close to the expiration date of the i94, the Social Security office won't issue you a SSN card until you have the NOA2 for AOS and the EAD approval.

You're lucky they issued your DL, bully for you but that is not the Norm for most people going through immigration. Do some more research before you decide to attack others.
