Touches mean they did something to your file, or moved it from one pile to the next. There seems to be no pattern or sense to it.

KC, if you haven't already, you need to go to USCIS.gov and register there with the case number you got when they accepted your I-129F at the CSC. When you register, there will be a date on the page. When they receive your packet, they give it a barcode and anytime someone "touches" your packet that date will change. Literally, anytime someone picks up your packet they have to scan the barcode that they applied to it. So, after you register on the USCIS page you can check it daily and if the date changes that means that someone picked up your file and either gave it to someone else or worked on it.

I mailed my I-129F on 1-16-2007 and it was received on 1-22-2007. When they received it they put a barcode on it and scanned it. That date was on my page until yesterday when the date changed to 4-24-2007. I received an email later that day notifying me that my application was approved and being sent to the NVC (National Visa Center) for the next step.

When you register on the USCIS site, make sure you select the option that you want email notification. Your case number will be mailed to you or your fiance and it should also be on the back of the check they cash when they accept your packet. Mine started with WAC........................... and the rest were numbers. Any questions, just ask. Ken

By the way, it has been taking 3 months for the CSC to approve I-129F's on average. So, be patient. It will happen. Ken

I'm new as well and I was wondering the same thing. I've mailed I129f to VSC on 3/23 and received my first notice on 3/29. I've registered with USCIS it states the same thing everyday...that it was received 3/26 and the case is currently pending. It's frustrating because I've browsed on this site for the past few weeks and everyone states their package has been "touched". My information states the same thing everyday. I don't know if that means it's stagnant and no one has "touched" it or no one has worked on it. It's been a month and I haven't received my 2nd notice as of yet for approval/denial/or need of additional info or whatever.

My fiance is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and he resides in Grenada. I don' t know if that is what the hold up is or what. But this waiting is very annoying, especially when you have plans that you would like to execute within the next 2.5 months.
