TimsDaisy,

I agree with your point, I would call that a 3rd lesson. One can put them in any order they wish.

Actually, I think lesson #1 is to read and exercise some common sense.

If you've applied for a visa meant for UNmarried people and then you decide that since your plans might get mucked up, you'd rather just get married anyway, try putting two-and-two together to see if they equal "a problem."

Man, this is a bummer. However..................I think this is a good example of why someone should consult with a immigration lawyer before beginning this process. Getting married is a, supposed to be, a life long commitment. What I have learned from this site has been amazing, but at he beginning I was not able to seperate the meat from the bones. There is a lot of valuable info here and a lot of bones. In the begining I thought I could trust the USIC with info. Not so. Every case is different and can require different information. That is the value of this site. We get to see and read about all the rights and wrongs and how they were resolved. FANTASTIC!!!

One other thing...........There is never any promise that your visa will be approved. This is the reason I did not get married in another country and do the K3 or CR1 route. That is just me. I want to be married to my sweetie, but if by chance we were denied I would only be able to see her 1 or 2 times a year. That would not work in the long run. I admire the folks that have the faith and courage to take the risk. I feel for these folks, but it is obvious they just assumed things would be OK.

But the other side of the problem is, for the K3, if you have a marriage ceremony in another country, the US doesn't always recognize it as legally binding, right?
