we've got our case number now - finding conflicting information on what to do next (i think the USCIS website gives different instructions that don't apply to DCF UK filing) please help?

we've gotten the police certificate for my UK citizen husband, just need to make sure we have the documents (birth certificate, do we need to do i-864?) and set up appointment for interview/medical?

Follow the exact instruction regarding the 4 steps here linked below:

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply-2

Ds-260

Police certificate

Medical

Interview.

Leave at least 2 weeks betwern medical and interview

The i864 is imperative:

Youve done the personal check through the i130

Youve done the criminal check.

The medical is your health check (You're vaccinated right?)

The i864 is the financial check, it shows you can support yourself, but if you cannot, then you'll need a co-sponsor to show THEY can support you financially

thank you!! for the i864 my parents (in the US) would sponsor if needed, do they need to actually sign the documents - will this be a problem?

why do you recommend leaving 2 weeks between med exam and interview? is this just what they require so they have the information from med exam at the interview?

You're very welcome :)

An unsigned document is an invalid document so yes, they definitely will need to sign it.

What I did was I emailed them the form, which a writeable PDF and after signing it on page 8 once all electronically  completed in capital letters, they posted it to me, since they want the signature to exclusively be ink.

It can take up to 2 weeks for the medical report to be received by the immigration office from the medical practice.

I didn't want to risk anything so I gave them 3 weeks and took a little break, although some ppl don't wait that long, and if the report hasn't arrived by the time you have your interview, they'll still go through the interview but no result will be given you until they receive the report (just like any other required documents....It's pending receipt.

You do do need to know now before you go any further, moeandlu.

This is most vital.

Will the petitioner sponsoring the beneficiary be -provably- able to produce support for both petitioner AND the beneficial above poverty line +25% or not?

If yes then the petitioner fills one form and all's great.

If no, then petitioner sponsoring the beneficiary AND co-sponsors EACH fill their own i864.

In either case, be sure you know BEFORE making any medical or interview appointment.

i think i'll have them do it as currently i'm residing in the uk with my spouse and don't have work lined up as of yet for after relocation to prove my salary. This would mean i need  to have a co-sponsor, right?

We did DCF on assets.  You need 3X the 125% guideline amount.  Liquid.  Readily available.  Best if they are in the US.  If not, then you need a co-sponsor.

Other choice:  Leave after filing and start working before the final packet is submitted and interview is scheduled, then file based on ongoing US income.  CO asked me when I filed the I130 if that was what I intended to do.  Right now you are where we were:  Income was assumed to be zero.

Just to confirm, before I book the medical and interview, we will need:

- financial documents proving joint finances

-lease info proving shared accommodation

- police certificate

- 3 passport photos

- I-864 form signed in ink

- medical and vaccination records

anythung else?

6 pics actually. 2 for interview(US size) and 4 for medical (any size).

Here below is the pic of your required docs and here's the link of interview's required docs (on the multiple drop down menus):

this is great thank you!! for the i-864, it's all meant to be only our co-sponsor's information (in this case, my parents) - do they each need to fill out a form, or just have 1 of them fill out a form? do i just provide supplemental/duplicate page for the same information? for example, 2 copies of the first page so question 1 would be 1 page of my mom's info, 1 page of my dad's info?

You're very welcome 😁

I "THINK" .... unless they share all resources, 1 has to fill the i864 and the other the i864a but it might be best to open a new thread to ask this specific question..... you'll get a more dedicated answer because im not too sure.... ☺

if both my parents are filling our i-864, the info from question 1 is asking for their info as 'sponsor', right? not any of my information, just double checking this.

does 1 parent need to fill out the form, then the other parent i-864a?

I have filled out many affidavits but never used a co-sponsor.  Not sure of the rules sorry.
