Hi,

I'm a little confused and I want to hear someone who went through this.

I was born in Senegal and my interview will take place in Senegal. Do I need to translate my birth certificate and my police certificate in English?

Yes, I had to translate everything from French to English, using a translation company that provides an affidavit!

They have to be either in English or the official language of the country where your interview takes place. If it’s different than those two you must translate.

This is what I understood from the NVC website. And if it is true, as I'll do my interview in a french speaker country and my birth certificate and police certificate will be in French, I don't have to translated in English .

But when read the post on the website I get two different point of view. That's make me confused.

Thanks for your answer. I wonder if it was a mandatory. Based on NVC website the document need to be in English or in the official language of the country where the interview will take place. As for my case it's Senegal I say myself I don't need translation.

you need to provide both the language of country you are doing interview and English translation (as you interview at US embassy)

But the ambassy is in a french speaker country...

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations.

the embassy is US embassy  not a French embassy

all documents must be in native langauge and an English translation

this informaiton is scanned and goes into computers for the Department of Homeland Security  so they have a complete history of all the process

The documents are not for the Department of Homeland security but for NVC ie the Ambassy.

So as the country where the interview will take place is French speaker I understand that my document for NVC can be in French.

I read this :
