Hi Everyone

A quick question. One of our K1 Visa applicants for South Africa asked a question:

Do we need to get a Letter of no Impediment for marriage in USA?

Not sure if this is necessary but rather be safe than sorry.

Will appreciate your answers and input on this.

Zel

A letter of NO Impediment is a certificate you get from your State Home Affairs stating that you are not married or never been married. Some Countries ask this before getting married. In my case I have to get one in South Africa before I can get married in USA. It's the same sort of thing as a Police clearance but just stating that you are single not married.

In US that may depend on the county and/or state. But no most places don’t ask for it. They can check if the embassy wants (they may want it for the interview) then check the place they’re getting married.

Day 130

The timeline date not changing is getting annoying.

I know! Day 124 here. I keep checking my date too! I know we still have awhile, but something as simple as a small movement in my timeline date gives me a glimmer of hope! Lol

We'll get there!

Oct 20 is the last date so far. No midday scan has been done today. Daniel will do one when he gets home.

Don't be shy to drop in on October and cheer them on guys!

Hey Guys

How are everyone holding up?

It's day 125 for us since the NOA1. It looks like the October month is going very slow and a lot of RFE's coming through. Let's keep our faith and hope that the process will speed up soon.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Zel

Things are moving along nicely here. The work being done on the house is almost finished, so hopefully after Tuesday I can sit in my yard without getting an anxiety attack. And fingers crossed, knock on wood, I think the house is sold too! That means I can move out around the end of June. It's so tempting to move to the states and just fly back to do the interview. I know its expensive but renting a vacation home for two or three months in the middle of summer is just as expensive. I know I know. Not feasible. But a girl can dream, right?

I know the feeling girl. I rented a flat for 3-4months till after my interview. But with the process going this slow I don't want to loose hope but the reality is that it may take a bit longer than what we expect. Let's keep the positive vibes going and ask destiny to make a way to speed up this process. I want to go home to my future husband.

October is one of the largest months by numbers so its expected they take a bit longer. Hopefully they speed up and we can get to our loved ones soon.

My hubby to be is getting anxious. I am very busy now with the house and arranging everything to move. He is sitting and waiting.

Over here the thing is you can't rent an apartment for a few months. You have to sign a contract for at least a year. So I am forced to either move in with friends or family (which will limit my privacy considerably and put a strain on a relationship that I don't want) or I can rent a holiday home, like a cabin. I am looking into that right now. Upside to that is that they come fully furnished so all I need to take is what I will take with me to America. Meaning I have more time to sort through my things decided what to take and what to get rid of. On the other hand it is more expensive.

The same her in SA you have to rent 6 months up to 1 year but I was lucky to find a community centre for Students (Potchefstroom is the heart of University) so they were able to give me a full furnished 1 bedroom apartment for 3 months. It's really expensive but I have no choice. To live with my parents and drive in to work (I work at the University of Potchefstroom) will basically work out the same as renting this apartment. I feel a bit off today. I guess it's normal to feel out of place. One feet in your current life and other feet in your future life. It's a bit much to take in sometimes and balance it all till the NOA2 and interview. Still a long way to go.
