I’m curious how many other December 20 filers still don’t have an answer.....from post on here it seems December 7 and 21 are having challenges. We are December 20 and still no answer. Thinking of calling the uscis tomorrow and seeing if maybe we did get an answer and just like some others the web pages are not showing this. Does anyone have the number for the uscis and the steps to getting a live person and what they asked to get an answer? Thanks!

With the number of approvals in the last 48 hours, I think yours is coming soon. December is almost finished you unfortunately you are one of the stragglers. :clock:Just a little more patience. I'd give it till Monday or Tuesday of next week before calling. Just my 2 cents.

So I did some chatting with an immigration attorney just to try to better understand why certain cases get worked before others...we are day 209 and still nothing. I was told that they actually do work in order however some cases take longer to get security clearance so instead of sitting and waiting they move on to the next and so on. He did say in his experience if its natrulized citizen filing it takes longer than an actual us born citizen since they have to pull the natrulized citizens archive and that takes longer to obtain to get security clearance...thought I share with you guys

I read from a former USCIS individual, who was assigned to this department, something different. I guess you don't know who to believe but the problem lies in all of us wanted our done NOW. We have little patience and we spend a good portion of our time fretting over something that we have no control over. I've learned that it will happen when it happens as this has been my experiences with every process from K-1 to ROC. It's harder for those who are new at this as opposed to someone who is on there 3rd experiences with USCIS. Hang in there it to will come.

From my understanding:

Packet 1 is the K1 application you sent out 6 months ago

Packet 2 I think this is the packet you send out to your fiance for his interview after you receive NOA2 (includes packet 1) (correct me if I'm wrong)

Packet 3 is the "Instruction Package" this is what the embassy sends out to the beneficiary when it receives the petition from NVC. you schedule an interview after you the beneficiary applies for the visa online.

Packet 4 i don't think there is a packet 4 for K1 visa, i think you just bring your passport and all the previous 3 packets, along with your passport???

Packet 4 is the return packet you send back to the Embassy with all the documents required by Packet 3.

The only packet that one has to be concerned with is the Packet 3 which is the instructions. Some Embassy's use it and others don't. The Philippine's calls there's their "checklist". Once it was referred to as the Embassy letter.

No one uses the P1 and P2 designation anymore so it's just best to ignore.

We got approved!!!! OMG I can't contain my happiness right now! :jest::jest:our case was updated on the old site.. getting closer to my love!im so happy....

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

Hi guys,

I am in US visiting my fiancand today I received my work visa application package and booked the interview for when I return to Brazil.

Then he got home from work and had a letter in hand, our approval from USCIS. What a coincidence lol.

We will proceed with the work visa since is faster and my company wants me to starts soon.

I believe I will be back for good mid-August and we will be able to get married by September. :D

But I wanted to update the website so:

USCIS receive date: 12/19/2017
USCIS approval notice date: 05/07/2018

We did not receive any update from apps or website.

Good luck everyone!!

Could you tell me more about the work visa.....can my fiancé also file for a work visa so he can start working when he arrives or do we have to wait for the green card. I thought the latter was the case....but I’m seeing that can take 4-5 months. If he could work before this....it would be wonderful. Very curious about this work visa and the process. Thanks!!!

I don't know how much you have looked into if this will in anyway conflict with your K-1 visa. If you haven't already done so, I would find the forum where they talk about other visas, especially the "work visa" you are trying to attain and get a second opinion. I only offer this as I wouldn't want someone to go to all that trouble and end up with POE problems from immigration.

Thanks!! I’m curious the answer to this.....

The K-1 visa will cancel all other visas once you hit your POE. There is no way to work while waiting on a GC for a K-1 visa. That's my concern with the post of what she is going to do. I'm not an expert in this area, so I recommended that she go where others have more experience.

This is odd.  I have two phones.  When I tried on the phone that I didn’t use on my application it told me to call back when they were open but they were open.  When I tried on my other phone right after that is registered on my application it worked.  Not sure if it’s related.

Thanks it said the same thing to me....not open and I was sure they were still open for another 2hours. But I did use the phone number on my application.

I believe it depends on the area code of the phone that you're calling from. If you're outside of the hours for your area, you probably are getting a "closed" message.

The hours of operation are listed here: https://www.uscis.gov/contactcenter
