@Bunbunbunny; answering the question here in your 'home' thread, as it's more relevant here also for other Dutch filers (if there are any). The consulate is quick from what I've heard. We're not there quite yet. Our case was received by the Consulate last Friday (electronic case), I'm expecting to receive packet 3 this week (hopefully). From what I understand from Dutch filers before us, from "ready" till VOH is roughly a month.

Oh my God that sounds very promising! :)

Would you be so kind to give us a heads up on whats in the package 3? I haven't been able to find much on that online.

Ok, another stupid question time. My fiancé and I were talking about jobs and he said it would be difficult to get one before I get my actual greencard. He thinks that most employers won't mess with a work permit. I never worried about that cause I figured an EAD would be enough. So I've been reading up on the greencard and can't really find a definite answer. How long does it take to get a greencard after you file AOS? I read that you have to get an interview first and that can take up to 200 days average. Some people don't get their interview for 2 years, others don't get an interview ever and can apply for a 10 year GC after 2 years of marriage. So, what if employers don't accept my EAD. How long do I have to wait on a greencard?

My understanding is that it depends on the center it's being processed at. Some will go faster than others. From reading stuff over the last couple months I've learned that that process is also somewhat slower than it used to be.

I'm preparing for 8 months if not longer, which is why applying for EAD would be worth it. Older stories from when the processing times were shorter, people often did not apply for EAD to work, as they would often get their green card a month or 2 after.

As for employers not wanting to deal with EAD - no clue.

I've also struggled with finding all that, but I have made a friend from the May filer thread that's been providing me with lots of info (just not the specific list) :)

My baby called me yesterday right after supper (bedtime for me). He was singing with the kids and wanted me to be a part of that. They sang with me on the phone for 20 minutes. I'm not ashamed to say I bawled my eyes out.

That's so sweettttt!!!

Mine called me and sleep talked about cheese and cowboy, and a Spanish lady in the office (or office lady talking Spanish- not really sure as it was gibberish)

it took me 8 minute (yes because my phone said so) to realize he was talking in his sleep....and I got so angry before I realized I yelled at him "enunciate!"

so at least you have cute sweet stories..... I have cheese and cowboys....

Well, there's nothing wring with cheese and cowboys... I like them. Maybe not perse in that combination though... But whatever. :jest:

He did call you in his sleep. You. While he was sleeping. How sweet is that?
