Day 40 and counting! Onwards and upwards.

Keeping busy is the best way forward. Get everything ready for NOA-2. What do you need to take to the interview. Collect pictures, chats, receipts, tickets ect. Fill out the forms and find out what vaccinations you still need to get for the medical. Go through the house and decide what you want to bring and how. In case of pets, look what vaccinations they need and what airliner can carry them. Research what needs to be done after we the wedding. What do you need for the AOS. How to get a drivers license. What jobs you'll be looking at. Maybe start making some friends while being over there.

I am so ready for NOA-2 and yet I know I am not. There's still so much that needs to be done. How did people do this back when they only had 6 weeks to prepare for NOA-2?

I know huh? Maybe the uscis relaxed that 6 weeks to prepare for noa2 was too little and thus started delaying NOA2s :clock:

#######... I believe I sent between 15 to 30.  (Packs at home at the moment and I am at work).  At this point it will be what it will be.  I can only hope that the pictures work in our favor.

That isn't bad at all.  Some people send 200 pages of pictures and have to box their petition.  I wasn't sure what you sent.  That is all good.  I've heard stories of the poor person who has to scan the petition going crazy because everything gets scanned.  If you send 200 pictures, 200 pictures need to be scanned!

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

I'm on day 55 and honestly it passed by quick but knowing that to get to 190 I have 135 days left just feels like it isn't going to pass by quickly. It is annoying but then at the end you know that when the day does come, it will all be worth the wait. Not counting all the stress.

Hi guys, my girlfriend filed in December, noa1 in december too

My girlfriend and i are running into a problem, she doesn't quite make the k1 visa guideline income (2017) [this number is substantially bigger than the poverty line, it also states the poverty line can only be used for military personnel?] if I were to be in her house hold however she does have cash assets.

We also have a common friend, he could co-sponsor us blasting us wayyyy above the needed income for a household of us all combined ( his family and us).

I live in The Netherlands, I was under the impression that co-sponsor acceptance and cash asset acceptance differ from embassy to embassy.

Emailed the US embassy in The Netherlands, got redirected to the most generalized page in existence... Ever...

What is the best way to deal with this situation? More details:

The friend we are talking about is supposed to be best man at our wedding.

My girlfriend is studying (21yo) and I am about to study (19yo).

Welcome fellow Dutchie! It's great to see another Dutch person in the December filers. I'll be keeping an eye on your timeline!

We will actually be living pretty close together, about 4 hours drive from eachother.

From what I understand is that your gf needs to make 100% of the poverty guidelines for the K1, and 125% for the AOS. So most people already check for the 125%

These are the 2018 numbers: https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines

Depending on how many people are in your household your gf needs to make 100 or 125% of these numbers. So if its just the two of you she needs to make $16.240 a year for the K1 and $20.300 for the AOS.

If she can't, that's no problem if you have a sponsor. This sponsor will need to provide for both your ánd his household. So if he has a wife and two kids he needs to make enough to cover the income-rate for a 6 person household.

When you get ready for the interview your sponsor(s) will need to fill out an affidavit of support (form I-134). Note that if you have an additional sponsor like your friend, both your gf ánd the sponsor need to fill out this form, including al the documents it asks for (statements from the bank and employer ect). You will need to do this again at the AOS stage.

I hope I got this right but any of the veterans will correct me if not.

If you got any other questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Thanks, that sounds rather reassuring,. (btw yes I've been lurking the forums and I felt great seing someone with the same nationality innmy filing month)

Ok so I can show up with 2 form form I-134's one of her and one of the friend and I should be good to go ^~^

Also I heard something about having to show police records at the interview, is it safe to ask those while the petition process is still ongoing or should i wait with doing that untill later?

Either way if you are using a co-sponsor even if the main petitioner doesn't make enough they need to fill a I-134, don't forget hat.

so if I were you I would get both ready and present. The worst case they will look at you like we don't need this one.

Ask for police reports around the time you get your noa2, so they won't expire.

if it is from a country you left and won't be returning then you can obtain it now.

This kind of confuses me too. If I'm correct you need to show a VOG (Verklaring omtrent gedrag, certificate of good behavior) at the interview. This is called a police record in English? I always think about being arrested when I hear police records, but I'm pretty sure they're talking about the VOG here.  This is something your Gemeente/Municipality will be bale to whip out for you within a few days. You can get that done when you get the NOA2.

Trust @Naes to dig up the topic you need. You are a gem!

So I was right, it is the VOG. But if I read correctly you need to wait till you get the paperwork from the embassy cause you need their letter to get the VOG from the gemeente. Interesting. It's not a big deal anyway. I worked closely with that department for years and I know they can have a VOG ready within a few days.

Weird, I did read it could take weeks although I saw options to get the VOG without their letter (vog-aanvraag.nl?), processing time would still be weeks though, for me

Are you sure you can't use noa1 btw?

I am just saying this cause I didn't research much about Dutch but for Japan they said they also want me to have a paper but I later learnt that noa1 would also help.

That's what they said in the topic you linked to. In the package you get from the embassy there's a letter you need to add to the application for a VOG cause they need a letter from the organisation that needs the VOG.
