The only solid advice we can give you is to not quit your job until you have your visa in hand. That's the only security you'll have in this mad rat race.

That being said. I just quit my job too. My office is in a really bad shape right now with my boss stepping down and two employees semi-permanently on sick leave. I needed to give my new interim boss the chance to hire a new person that could be properly worked in by me before I leave. The only way to do that is quit my job, else they don't have a legal ground to hire. I have been very open to everyone about the process I was going through and they have been very helpful. They agreed to let me resign as of November 1st with the possibility of leaving as soon as August 1st. So at any time between August 1 and November 1 my k1 visa is approved I can get on a flight and leave the next day.

Ha ha I resigned this morning. I have a similar situation. Working for the University our second semester is starting off 2nd week in July so my boss have to advertise my position and then have interviews to appoint a new person. I can't wait till interview to resign it puts him in a really difficult situation then. And I could use spare time to get my duck in a row for my interview. At least I know that it will soon be our turn for a interview. Just hope that the dates will be available for us. I really really hope for 22nd July but hey we can only play it by ear.

MOST EMBASSY'S STATE:

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

Your not there till your there.

Ha! I'm following a case from each week in my app so I can easily run scans to see the activity. I just realized the downside of that...

I get the app notification when a case has been updated. I just received a notification for one case that got approved and I got really excited (even though I know it'd be way too early for me)! 10 seconds later a notification comes that an RFE was sent. Both different WAC numbers, both not mine. Whoops! Perhaps that's the downside of wanting to be in the know?

Big congrats to all those approved so far!

Hi, they received my RFE yesterday afternoon, it may have been mine.  I got the notification also from both old and new website.  Hopeful they get to it right away but I least I am happy they got it.

hi every one, im new here. we filed for the fiance visa

Old website dec 13

new website dec 15

we are still waiting fir a response. i see people who filed after us getting approved and im really worried. i have been compulsively checking both websites but still nothing. its very frustrating after all these months of waiting.  it gets harder by the day and im losing my mind.  i really hope to hear something soon.

i have a question does it matter how long you have been together?  we met in july of 2017 online and met for the first time in november of 20 17 and got engaged.  and filed for the fiance visa mid december.

Oh dear, don't worry. I'm december 15 in the new website too and I haven't heard anything either. I wouldn't worry yet. And for the other question, I don't think it matters, I met my fiance in January of 2017 so. I don't think there's a problem with it.

Good luck and don't lose hope!!! ^_^

Oh come on! I’m eagerly waiting for the 20’s to be all touched. So hard being a late filer in a month (although late November filers would say otherwise) 😂😂☝️🍀

I'm sure they'll start on those next week, so don't lose hope dear! I'm december 15 and haven't heard anything yet, but there's a lot of the same date that already got it, so hopefully you get yours soon!! ^_^

I met my fiance on Facebook last day of May 2017.  We had our in person meeting Sept. 2017 and I filed K1 in Nov 2017.  NOA1 12/4.  I haven't been able to visit again.  Our petition was approved 6/19.  You should be fine.

As the other ladies have said, I don’t think it should be an issue. The requirements of the K1 are that you: (a) met once within the last 2 years prior to filling and (b) you intend to marry. Some embassies are harder than others (just to bear in mind). I’ve met my fiancé 7 times and (planning a sneaky trip in August prior to my interview). I’m glad I have as it gave me so many opportunities to interact and for us to know we are complimenting to each other through various situations and above all else to know we were made for each other. However, I’m lucky as I’m from a VWP country. I’m a very scrutinous, analytical person in nature so I’m lucky to have met as often. I know it’s harder for non-VWP countries.

Youll be fine.

Hello and welcome ^_^

Its 'normal' for them to jump from one date to the next. That they are working on a later date is nothing to worry about.

For this stage it does not matter how long you have been together. As long as you have met in person once in the past two years and are both free to marry and such your petition will be approved.

BUT!! It could be a problem for the next stage! I see you are from Tanzania and I dont know how difficult that embassy is. You might want to ask in your region specific forum if that would be a problem. Once you get your approval your case will be sent to your local embassy and they will determine wether your relationship is 'real'. Some embassies are very difficult and will want more proof of a genuine relationship if you got engaged on your first visit. So go ask your region specific forums, they know best!

Yes it matters that you have been together. But the standard that the USCIS requires is that you have met at least once in the past 2 years. Your post describes a situation that will not be a problem for you as you met 11/2017.
