Didn't receive the petition for name change during oath ceremony

I was naturalized and have my name changed during the naturalization. However, I did not receive my name change certificate on the day of the oath ceremony.(I only receive the naturalization certificate

I did not even know this until I visa, because they required the name change certificate. (It has been 3 months since I went to the oath ceremony)

Then I went to the district court, but they said they don't have my record and asked me go back to the USCIS local office and create one.

But when I get there they did not help me out, they said they can not do anything either and asked me to go back to court and ask them.
I’m so confuse now, how would I be able to get the name change certificate back?

what'  s the name on your certificate?  did they print the new name on your certificate yet on the oath day?

Contact a lawyer.

It sounds like an curt response but it's the only appropriate one answer for such a unique case.

Otherwise, make an InfoPass appointment and say you never got your name change certificate and bring an old form of document that you used to acquire your I-551 (Green Card). Also get something in writing that the court does not have any record of a name change certificate.

Is your name change based on marriage? If the name change is based on marriage and if the wife is changing her last name to that of husband's: no court order is required. All that you need is the marriage certificate.

Hi,

This is my case. I am taking my husband's name and did not get a court order name change. In Colorado the DMV does not recognize foreign marriage certificates (got married in Peru)  Because of that I feel I should have gotten a court order. Banks, dmv, seem to require a court order... do you know of anyone that may have been in the same boat? I am scared to go to the SS and be asked for a court order and be turned away... and same with passport application. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did either of you received a court order in the mail?

Yes, eventually, but my reason was a typo in address.

You also can go to the court and ask for a copy.
