Did anyone here use an immigration lawyer?

I used a lawyer for two reasons - 1. the daunting paperwork and to make sure everything was filled out correctly. 2. Knowing each other for only 3 months prior to getting married. 

 

On the bright side, it's a good thing we used a lawyer because evidently Colombia was two types of birth certificates. Had I not used a lawyer, I would've sent the wrong birth certificate which would've resulted in a RFE. However, still waiting on the mythical place called Nebraska - PD May 26.

If you receive a RFE that is going to go thru the lawyer and it will slows down the process, in fact I know one of the VJ members who fired his attorney because all what the guy was doing was slowing down the process because the guy was a little dumb and sended the wrong papers and wasn´t doing the correct things, Of course, this is an exception of the rule, but also is one experience!

With the help of VJ members you are going to go thru the whole process saving money for the attourney, RapidVisa etc....

As others said,  an attourney won´t save you from RFE!

Hello CaliRose,

I was surprise too when my case was completed fast. Pure luck and God's grace. I was lucky enough to get Potomac because they send my case to NVC in a week and other week i got the Case # and invoice #.

No i was not part of the online submission. I mailed out everything. Scan Date is the date when they received your AOS and IV Package and scan in their system. 

Texas takes longer to send cases to NVC

I am in US and my wife in India. She is ready for interview. i preparing her. Police clearance was done in OCT and already submitted in NVC. She did not do the medical yet. Just waiting for the interview to be schedule. I will find out this week or next week lastest. No problem with your question. We here to help each other.

You have to provide them with all of the information anyway. So you technically going to spend the same amount of time filling out the forms, maybe even more so with the lawyer because you have to double check everything they did to make sure no mistake was made. 

Lawyer would come in handy if you have a rather complicated case, and want to reduce possibility of errors. 

Although I have to tell you that most of the lower level details going to be handled by the paralegals, and competency of the paralegal assigned to your case depends on the firm that you choose.
