are you equating marriage rights and concealed carry permits?

No, because one of them is enshrined right in the Constitution and the other is not.  Guess which is which?

The Commerce clause  governs interstate commerce  and does not mention the right to carry a concealed.   Laws governing driving in another state are covered by compact that covers most states and Canadian provinces, you cannot have an infraction in California if you are a driver with an NC license if NC does not have that law.  Those compacts also have a National Data Register  that shares your infractions, crimes, duis etc.

Alabama and other states keep concealed carry data confidential.  How will  Georgia even be able to confirm the validity of that permit if they go across the border?

The Commerce Clause has absolutely nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

yes, because NC and California both signed a compact honoring each other's laws.

edit:

And what about other state licenses?  If you are a doctor in Illinois you do not necessarily have the right to practice medicine in Indiana.

You don't have a Constitutional right to be a doctor.

Exactly my point, and the power of states to regulate and license conceled guns? Do they have that right?

You don't have a Constitutional right to be a doctor.

And you apparently don't have that right to conceal a weapon without the permission of the government.

No, the states do not have that right.

Sure you do.  It is enshrined in the Constitution - "shall not be infringed".

So why do we need concealed carry permits at all?

Excellent question.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Very good point - we shouldn't need those.

So you will have no problem with a federal concealed carry reciprocity law then?

If we had a federal concealed carry permit and centralized registration with laws that kept permits out if the hands of felons and other high risk pools I would get behind that.

Not sure Felons are that bothered about permits.

We already have laws that keep permits out of the hands of felons and other high risk pools of people.   I would also support a federal level centralized concealed permit registration, or even better, a federal level concealed permit that is valid anywhere in the United States - solves both problems at one time.

Edit - Just realized you might have been alluding to a centralized gun registration system and not a centralized CC permit registration system.  A centralized gun ownership registry is a non-starter for most law abiding gun owners.  It leads to gun confiscation and any argument you make that it doesn't is invalid.
