I filed my i751 in June 2016, it still hasnt been approved. Ive put in a request for furrther information but tier 2 says i just have to wait.

When i look at the June 2016 thread, everyone has been approved long ago aside from a few people who filed N-400s.

I did file my N-400. is my i751 paperwork now tied to my N-400 paperwork? is this going to take another 12-18 months before i hear anything?

I am concerned as things aren't so great with my wife, we are still together and married. However, there has been serious strains on the relationship lately and its put extra stress on me, and I was considering withdrawing my N400, and now even more so since it seems that this has delayed my i751.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Yes most likely you will have I-751/N-400 processed together at your field office which means you will have I-751 interview right before N-400 interview based on people's post here.

Sorry to hear about your situation with your wife. Since your I-751/N-400 are probably bundled together not sure if you withdraw N-400, they will send your I-751 back to CSC or VSC (wherever you filed). If I were you, I would just wait for I-751/N-400 interview if you are not planning to divorce right away and your wife is wiling to go in an interview with you. If you are getting divorced, then you must withdraw your N-400 and also switch your I-751 to divorce waiver otherwise you will have problems when you want to get N-400 in future.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Since my i751 has been pending for 18 months, does this mean my n400 and i751 interview will be coming up shortly? Or does it go to the bottom of the pile again at the field office which means waiting another year?

The way things are going I cannot wait another year. I will withdraw my n400.

Your Interview on field office depends upon their processing time. Have you checked which month they are working on currently?

Yes, they are a year behind. That's why I asked does my n400 move my i751 that's already 18 months over due back to another line?

If so im going to cancel n400.

As far as my understanding, it does not matter if you have pending I-751 for 18 months when you start your N-400. Your N-400 will be processed along with other regular N-400 applicants. We do have some people who filed N-400 online with pending I-751 in this forum whogot their interview pretty fast but that was more due to their short processing time of their field office I believe.

When did you file your N-400?

When did you file your N-400?

In September. Current field office is still in mid 2016.

I've been waiting 18 months for my RoC and in about to burst into tears that filing my n400 added on an extra year to paperwork I've been waiting on, especially with my current marriage situation.

While it is possible that your I-751 has been delayed by your N-400. The problem is (at this point) that withdrawing your N-400 won't likely cause it to speed up. 18 months is a long time, but (especially if you filed at CSC) you're only a couple of months behind the average approval (they're only working on August now - I've been waiting almost 16 months and I'm considered to be "within normal processing time" right now. The whole system is just that backed up.

Have you investigated why your I-751 is delayed? (Put in service requests, called USCIS and talked to a tier 2, involved the ombudsman and your congresspeople and senators?) Have they given you any reason why your I-751 has been delayed?

You don't seem to have a timeline linked to your profile, so it's hard to get a full picture of your situation, but so far, the only people who have noticed that their N-400 slowed their I-751 approval are the people who filed N-400 as soon as they were able to (so in your case, that would have been filing in June, not September). Either way, I don't think that withdrawing your N-400 will make them adjudicate your I-751 any faster at this point. Withdraw it if you want to, but I don't think it will do anything but lose you the filing fee without anything at all to show for it.

Spend your energy following up on your I-751 and making sure you didn't miss an RFE or an interview or that they haven't lost your file. You have some small amount of agency, since your file is "outside normal processing times" now.

Is your timeline updated?
