One wonders if the Palestinians had control of Jerusalem would they allow access to the Jews or Christians?

Too bad we don't have anything from history to go on...

Excellent post!

Not only are embassies normally in the capital city of a country, every other American Embassy in every other country in the world is in the designated capital of the host country - EVERY SINGLE DARN ONE!

Yeah, Jerusalem did not just become Israel's capital because Trump said so, I've got news for anyone thinking that...it has been Israel's capital for decades and will continue to be. The denial and refusal to accept that simple fact by the world leads to insanity like this:

https://www.timesofisrael.com/a-day-later-no-plans-for-jerusalem-israel-on-us-passports/

And again, in conflict or not, I believe every sovereign state has a right to designate its own capital, and that is where embassies should be. Too bad Israel couldn't just tell nations to open their embassies in Jerusalem or not to bother, but I'm assuming that would lead to too much diplomatic isolation. There are actually some schools in France and other countries where they teach children that Israel's capital is Tel Aviv. It's all a bunch of garbage.

To be honest though, with disinformation like this out there, it's not surprising at all:

"As if Palestine never existed" lol...these dummies actually think there used to be a Palestinian state.

Are you referring to this?

Three rockets were fired towards Israel from Gaza on Friday, leading Israel to carry out air strikes in response. It said it hit military sites belonging to the Islamist group Hamas, killing two of its members.

The way you describe it sounds something totally different.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

They say the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing and expecting different results. I guess that means Hamas is insane. In any case, appreciate the play-by-play lol.

You could ask a mod to edit your post if it is too late to do it yourself.

Have you been heavily involved in Southern Baptist doctrine, and evangelical churches for years? Have you done ministry and outreach and followed various influential movements and online entities that help populate these ideas out of the 'tiny subsets' into the larger subsets? I've been around these circles a long time.. they are more common than the average 'believer' thinks. The church as a whole has done nothing to cast them out - they either don't take them seriously (when they should because they have literally infiltrated all aspects of Southern Baptist doctrine since even before I was around), or they turn a blind eye and let these ideas spread. They don't teach truth or responsible doctrine, they offer no direction to the lost within their ranks. They simply don't care because they sold out long ago. Spend some time in some of these churches, homeschool groups, and other sects.. sit yourself in front of the tv and watch the big mega preachers of the day and the big networks of note connected to these groups... and you'll come to see what we're talking about.

Still a very tiny percent of the U.S. population.  Teeny tiny!

So you say. And yet they are one of the biggest voting blocs and have some of the greatest influence in this country. Remember the days of Buckley and the GOP? He too realized they posed a big problem and tried to cast some of these elements out. Eventually the party thought cozying up to them was a good way to stay in power and let the money flow. Now it's everywhere.

It isn't everywhere.  You are exaggerating.  These beliefs are held by a tiny fraction of the population in America.  Do you have any statistical studies to back up your exaggerated figures?

You may have noticed, but perhaps not that there's something on social media trending called ''raptureanxiety'' - this is a lot of former evangelicals and theologians sharing their stories from childhood about various abuses they suffered through bad doctrine growing up. I don't really need to show statistical figures, because persons that are even remotely anywhere near areas where Southern Baptism and evangelicalism has a stronghold understands it's not anything merely tiny or exaggerated. We live this every day in our communities. We know it well. Evangelicals are a powerful voting bloc, and were identified as such long ago. Buckley in fact understood the danger it posed, and warned long ago about the perils of Trump-ian presidency.. and with the marriage of dominionistic theocracies within the conservative party. It has been this way since the late 70s, strong within the 80s, and resurging now. If they are losing any ground in America, they are also starting various movements with groups in Europe.

There are two goals: fundamentally change America into a place that they say the ''founders'' intended. But it is not the ''Founding Fathers'' that they are referring to. They are talking about pre-colonial days. They are talking about Puritanism and theocratic states. The second goal is to hasten the end times. Long disappointed by the promise of the return of the Savior, but the ever-present concept that he'll come 'soon', evangelicals will without a doubt enthusiastically, when asked, pull out Revelation and point to every single passage describing something that they think is happening now. Trump is currently happy to oblige them. A cadre of powerful hanger-ons that don't serve him well at all, and all have a singular goal in mind. They do not care about peace in Israel - and they care nothing for Jews or Palestine either (though they have spent decades attempting to convince they have their interests at heart... the reality of their prophecy says they too will fall and only Christians come out on top). Russia also has a place to fill, when it comes to Gog and Magog too. When you make prophecy, suddenly you start fulfilling it.

But let's look at some statistics shall we? According to Brookings 8 out of 10 Evangelicals believe that violence in the Middle-East (but largely anything that happens in the middle-east) is a 'sign' of the coming Apocalypse... in fact a whopping 79% of them.

Quote

The poll also found that 72 percent of Christians and 81 percent of Evangelicals believe that Christ will eventually return but are not sure when that will happen, while 5 percent of Christians and 12 percent of Evangelicals believe that Christ will return during their lifetimes.

Additionally, 75 percent of Evangelicals and 55 percent of Christians who say that Christ will return believe that "things need to happen in Israel" before Christ returns.

Meanwhile, 63 percent of Evangelicals and 51 percent of non-Evangelical Christians believe that "for the rapture or Second Coming to occur, it is essential for current-day Israel to include all of the land they believed was promised to biblical Israel in the Old Testament."

Yes, let's think about these statistics a minute - even 51% of non-evangelicals believe it. Why on earth do you think when polled, a candidate's position on Israel is a critical issue? https://www.christianpost.com/news/79-percent-of-evangelicas-see-violence-in-middle-east-as-sign-end-times-are-near-151702/

Are individuals like Michele Bachmann, Ben Carson,  Robert Jeffress, John Hagee, and Mike Huckabee (and 100s of others) lying when they say they believe prophecies are being fulfilled regarding the 'end times' and how excited they are about it? I can gives you hundreds of quotes from prominent mega-pastors of today that align themselves as being very close to Trump confirming it. Why do you think Sekulow is on his team?

But let's keep going..

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/12/04/what-is-happening-involving-israel-has-some-saying-that-were-literally-watching-bible-prophecy-unfold-before-our-eyes

Nearly half of Americans believe that climate change, natural disasters, and big ecological events are signs of the "end times." Such ideas could even be found within those who did not claim a religious affiliation. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/11/half-of-americans-think-climate-change-is-a-sign-of-the-apocalypse/383029/

One-third of polled pastors believe in a rapture, even if they may disagree on the logistics of how that happens. They believe that an Antichrist is coming or is already here. They believe in judgments and scrolls, with punishment events being unleashed on earth. Of mainline, more 'traditional' religions, which studies have shown are actually showing a reduction in membership - promoted ideas regarding end times philosophy are generally not taken as literal - however within evangelical communities, pastors, and churches - which include Southern Baptist, the majority fervently believe it as literal. http://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2016/april/sorry-left-behind-pastors-end-times-rapture-antichrist.html Christian researchers also discovered that prior to the previous election - evangelical movements and those identifying as such were actually increasing over all others. In one poll of Americans, even if only 36% believed the Bible should be taken literally, 59% believed events in Revelation should not only be taken literally, but were happening right now. 1 in 4 believed that 9/11 was predicted in the Bible, and similarly believe the end of the world will happen in their lifetimes. And...

Quote
Even more significant for this study, over one-third of those Americans who support Israel report that they do so because they believe the Bible teaches that the Jews must possess their own country in the Holy Land before Jesus can return
Quote
Millions of Americans believe that the Bible predicts the future and that we are living in the last days. Their beliefs are rooted in dispensationalism, a particular way of understanding the Bible's prophetic passages, especially those in Daniel and Ezekiel in the Old Testament and the Book of Revelation in the New Testament. They make up about one-third of America's 40 or 50 million evangelical Christians and believe that the nation of Israel will play a central role in the unfolding of end-times events. In the last part of the 20th century, dispensationalist evangelicals become Israel's best friends-an alliance that has made a serious geopolitical difference.

It's a pretty good article btw. http://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/christianity/end-times/on-the-road-to-armageddon.aspx

So where is your proof that it's so tiny we should just ignore it? Where's your proof that people who have grown up in these communities and know it best are exaggerating? Do you have your own statistics?
