Are you kidding me? They already think that thing is here... we just can't see it or some such magical nonsense. The problem becomes what happens when individuals who believe this stuff have power - and I'm not just talking about them literally being voted into an elected office, but power in their ability to influence people to make bad decisions. Decisions that aren't intended for the better of the world and our people... but for the purpose of bringing destruction and chaos... because if 'Jesus' isn't coming fast enough for them, they'll stop at nothing to 'make it so'. These beliefs are more widespread than you think. They are not a small crackpot subset.

I had an acquaintance tell me back on September 22 that the world is ending the next day due to this massive Jupiter sized planet hiding behind the sun.  I am no astrophysicist, but I know enough about astronomy and physics to know that anything that size in the inner solar system would have already had catastrophic consequences to the earth, and all the inner planets.  He didn't believe me, so I told him to give me his money since the world is ending tomorrow (9/23/17), but he didn't.  Anyway, I understand the thought, but I guess I like to think that most people have at least a modicum of critical thinking skills to marginalize these kooks unless of course we decide to make them a protected class.

Does he not realize that we rotate around the sun? Did he think it was like an unknown planet that rotates around the sun with exactly the same path as us so that we never see it because it's always on the opposite side?

....these are the same persons that more or less either believe there is no such thing as dinosaurs (or if they do exist they walked hand in hand with man but somehow got left out in Noah's ark..), possibly think the earth is flat, believe that a firmament covered the earth in Noah's time and that God punched a hole in it, that the earth is actually hollow, toothpaste makes you poisoned/gay, PlanetX/Nibiru is magically hidden by God from the human eye, numerical codes in the Bible tell us about every future event, there will be a Rapture (although I've noticed this trend evolving into various different theories when one aspect just doesn't fit), Trump is one of several 'judgments', there's probably still FEMA death camps, aliens could actually be angels, and much more....  no matter how wacky they may go out there though, the common theme always is, since Jesus isn't coming fast enough for them, they have to do something to hasten it along and fulfill an ever shifting prophecy.

The state of Israel was pretty arbitrarily designated post-WW2. They basically dictated what they wanted and we went along with it.

 

Hence the last decades of conflict.

The first quote is not exactly accurate and the second quote is quite ridiculous actually. Israel would not call for violence, because it would not need to call for violence, it would simply keep the status quo and that's all it would really need to do. Regarding the first quote Israel didn't get to decide what the borders will be, and trust me it wasn't what the Jewish population wanted, but despite the major issues with the partition plan, at least they were willing to accept it. The Arabs didn't. Flash forward to 2017.

 

Now, this whole faked brainwashed "outrage" about this recognition is beyond dumb. Nothing has changed with the status quo of Jerusalem. They still get to pray there, nothing is different from before the speech except for the symbolic recognition of Jerusalem, which btw has been the capital of the Jewish people long before capitals existed, as the capital of Israel. A recognition that even those like me who believe in the two state solution think is long overdue. At the end of the day the conflict will be resolved with some kind of compromise in East Jerusalem where part of the eastern side of the city will be the Palestinian Capital and the Western part of it the Israeli capital and some sort of compromise over the holy sites. Everyone knows this, on all sides, no big secret. However, the world doesn't get to decide for countries what their capitals are, every country sets that for itself, and embassies are usually in the capitals. So I have always found this notion by some that "jerusalem can't be recognized as the capital of Israel until there is a peace deal" as ludicrous. One has nothing to do with the other. Israel's capital is Jerusalem, like it or not that is what Israel decided. Hence, your embassy should be in Jerusalem. Period. End of story. Now, where in Jerusalem is another question, but I'd have no qualms with it being in the western side of the city as again, that is not even in conflict. In every future agreement it will remain a part of Israel. 

 

Anyone trying to pretend Tel Aviv is the capital when that's not what Israel as a sovereign state has decided, or that Israel has no capital, is way out of line. To me this is just another excuse for violence on the "peaceful side". Nothing more, nothing less.
