The capital of Israel is Jerusalem - all of Israel's government organizations are in Jerusalem.  Israel is the only country in the world where the U.S. Embassy is not located in the capital of that country.  

 

Trump is not moving the Embassy to Jerusalem himself.  It was designated to be moved by an act of Congress.  That act included a provision to delay the move by 6 months at a time.  The delay was renewed every 6 months by previous Presidents.  Trump is simply choosing not to renew that 6 month delay.

 

There can never be peace in Israel unless Jerusalem is recognized as Israel's capital.  It is a deal breaker to Israel for a final peace agreement.  So if all the bleeding heart liberals really want peace, this needs to happen.  Might as well get it over and done with now.

Making powerful moves forces others to get into the game.  The peace process has gone nowhere for too long.  Many countries are realizing that they are going to be held accountable by this administration.

It may force people to get into the game, but it doesn't force peace.

 

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hope that I am wrong on this topic. I want peace. I have close friends whose family live in Israel. I absolutely want the violence there to be over with so I will gladly accept being wrong in this situation.

 

I just don't think it's going to happen. Saudi Arabia's offer doesn't change much. The Palestinians believe in their right to Jerusalem just as much as Israel does. America "picking a side" just hurts our ability to be a mediator in the discussion (not that we were ever a very good one since we've clearly had an obvious preference since the creation of the State of Israel post-war).

Peace is only possible when both parties are willing to a compromise.

And when mediators are unbiased and don't choose sides.

Because SA knows it has to make a "small" sacrifice in order to achieve a greater goal. Opportunistic, just like this administration...

 

Besides that, SA never cared about the Palestinian situation anyway.

I know this person that's completely geeking out with joyful glee about the whole thing. They are the sort that thinks the end of the world is going to happen almost every year, and everything has to 'fit' into a narrative, and Trump is all part of a Revelation judgment that will hasten the end of the world. Not kidding here... and they've got tons of like minded individuals that believe the same thing.

oh i totally believe you, mainly because i know a few people that believe this stuff myself. even if they don't go so far as the 'third temple' bit, anyone with experience in us fundamental christianity knows that there are a host of prophecies in revelations that are interpreted in all sorts of ways but israel and jerusalem are always a big part of how it plays out.  it makes me ill, honestly.

Are they keeping a look out for Planet X?  That being said, there are certainly a lot of instances of people finding their beliefs in strange places, or interpreting a mainstream item like the bible so literally it seems beyond belief.
