I am pretty sure we talked about Miss Iraq getting death threats for a selfie with miss Israel

Well, this is a girl who is an activist... coming from an activist family. Footage about her in confrontation with Israeli soldiers has been circulating on the internet for years.

Now she is arrested after one of those altercations. And because she is a minor her mother wanted to be present at the interrogation, and she got arrested too. Not sure what other side there is to the story?

Amused how the term activist has been corrupted

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Did not used to have those negative connotations

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Have you read the story?  First when I saw the video I was wondering what was going on. I have read the background story and it puts things in perspective.

I didn't make that up. Google or Merriam-Webster is your friend:

Also, connotation depends on view on things.

How do people this stupid get out of bed by themselves?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I am not arguing with the current designation

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Probably wasting my time but to make it clear just a shame that something that WAS a positive term has changed.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

lol this girl is a known provocateur and even people in the Arab and Muslim world praised this soldier all over the internet for doing nothing.

https://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-5059307,00.html

"If she did that to a soldier in the army of an Arab state, she would be arrested and her whole family from the big to the small," surfer Fadi al-Ajha wrote in response to a Facebook post on the subject. "Of course it's a sad thing, but if she attacked a soldier in an Arab country and slapped him in the face, what would that soldier do to her?" Added Surfer Thakri.

A surfer named Muhammad Ahmad, who lives in Syria, wrote: "You say that Israel is oppressing, she hit a soldier and he did not do anything to her." "I swear to God that if such a thing happened to us in Syria, she and her family would disappear from the world," Ahmed added. "Her behavior is provocative and the Israeli soldier was more patient than the prophet Ayyub," added surfer Azu Elhosen.
