....In response to rocket firing...

I actually think the response so far has been beyond measured, too measured. Israel needs to make it clear to Hamas it will not tolerate any rockets being fired into it again.

A retired Israeli Army colonel once told me, "A dead terrorist can rarely cause you future problems."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You may have noticed, but perhaps not that there's something on social media trending called ''raptureanxiety'' - this is a lot of former evangelicals and theologians sharing their stories from childhood about various abuses they suffered through bad doctrine growing up. I don't really need to show statistical figures, because persons that are even remotely anywhere near areas where Southern Baptism and evangelicalism has a stronghold understands it's not anything merely tiny or exaggerated. We live this every day in our communities. We know it well. Evangelicals are a powerful voting bloc, and were identified as such long ago. Buckley in fact understood the danger it posed, and warned long ago about the perils of Trump-ian presidency.. and with the marriage of dominionistic theocracies within the conservative party. It has been this way since the late 70s, strong within the 80s, and resurging now. If they are losing any ground in America, they are also starting various movements with groups in Europe.

There are two goals: fundamentally change America into a place that they say the ''founders'' intended. But it is not the ''Founding Fathers'' that they are referring to. They are talking about pre-colonial days. They are talking about Puritanism and theocratic states. The second goal is to hasten the end times. Long disappointed by the promise of the return of the Savior, but the ever-present concept that he'll come 'soon', evangelicals will without a doubt enthusiastically, when asked, pull out Revelation and point to every single passage describing something that they think is happening now. Trump is currently happy to oblige them. A cadre of powerful hanger-ons that don't serve him well at all, and all have a singular goal in mind. They do not care about peace in Israel - and they care nothing for Jews or Palestine either (though they have spent decades attempting to convince they have their interests at heart... the reality of their prophecy says they too will fall and only Christians come out on top). Russia also has a place to fill, when it comes to Gog and Magog too. When you make prophecy, suddenly you start fulfilling it.

But let's look at some statistics shall we? According to Brookings 8 out of 10 Evangelicals believe that violence in the Middle-East (but largely anything that happens in the middle-east) is a 'sign' of the coming Apocalypse... in fact a whopping 79% of them.

Yes, let's think about these statistics a minute - even 51% of non-evangelicals believe it. Why on earth do you think when polled, a candidate's position on Israel is a critical issue? https://www.christianpost.com/news/79-percent-of-evangelicas-see-violence-in-middle-east-as-sign-end-times-are-near-151702/

Are individuals like Michele Bachmann, Ben Carson,  Robert Jeffress, John Hagee, and Mike Huckabee (and 100s of others) lying when they say they believe prophecies are being fulfilled regarding the 'end times' and how excited they are about it? I can gives you hundreds of quotes from prominent mega-pastors of today that align themselves as being very close to Trump confirming it. Why do you think Sekulow is on his team?

But let's keep going..

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/12/04/what-is-happening-involving-israel-has-some-saying-that-were-literally-watching-bible-prophecy-unfold-before-our-eyes

Nearly half of Americans believe that climate change, natural disasters, and big ecological events are signs of the "end times." Such ideas could even be found within those who did not claim a religious affiliation. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/11/half-of-americans-think-climate-change-is-a-sign-of-the-apocalypse/383029/

One-third of polled pastors believe in a rapture, even if they may disagree on the logistics of how that happens. They believe that an Antichrist is coming or is already here. They believe in judgments and scrolls, with punishment events being unleashed on earth. Of mainline, more 'traditional' religions, which studies have shown are actually showing a reduction in membership - promoted ideas regarding end times philosophy are generally not taken as literal - however within evangelical communities, pastors, and churches - which include Southern Baptist, the majority fervently believe it as literal. http://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2016/april/sorry-left-behind-pastors-end-times-rapture-antichrist.html Christian researchers also discovered that prior to the previous election - evangelical movements and those identifying as such were actually increasing over all others. In one poll of Americans, even if only 36% believed the Bible should be taken literally, 59% believed events in Revelation should not only be taken literally, but were happening right now. 1 in 4 believed that 9/11 was predicted in the Bible, and similarly believe the end of the world will happen in their lifetimes. And...

It's a pretty good article btw. http://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/christianity/end-times/on-the-road-to-armageddon.aspx

So where is your proof that it's so tiny we should just ignore it? Where's your proof that people who have grown up in these communities and know it best are exaggerating? Do you have your own statistics?

You still haven't posted anything backing up your claims.  A very small percent of Americans believe in your original assertions.

I don't see why people love to point out or complain about the length of posts here. Why do you want to insult your own intelligence, or at the very least your literacy?

Really a few paragraphs is not that long. Get over it.

AAHAHAHAHAHAHA  :jest:

Don't worry @bcking we do appropriate your book length posts.  I'm genuinely saying that.

I worry for those who think a couple paragraphs is "long".

It's really quite sad.

You made me chuckle though when I read that post.  :D  I'm on an email chain with 10 friends and one of them (Gary) is a guy with an advanced degree in chemical engineering who writes short story long emails.  Some of my other friends can't bare to read them and ask for the Cliffs Note version.

I really do enjoy your long posts though.
