Hmmmm... I might just wait in that case. Montreal interview dates are slim. Not like Japan

In japan there’s only one morning time slot for k visas (all family, spouse and fiancé visas actually) per week... so I have no clue about why you referred it as “not slim”. (As many people read this, I wouldn’t like to leave wrong info on this)

however I believe there are two types of appointment sites and style, one lets you reschedule without cancelling your old one, the other needs cancellation to see open dates. As long as you can see open dates changing, it is easy as you don’t have to cancel.

Two sites? Oooooo good to know! Thanks @Naes

Can all of you all who have scheduled already provide the link you used for Montreal? Maybe together we can figure this out.

No I didn’t mean it like that. I meant country specific two sites.

theres group a and group b. I only realized the system is different when I tried to transfer my case to Turkey and the system was different (it didn’t even show me the first available date without paying unlike japan). So the system depends on which group the country falls into.

Oooh okay.

It's alright. I just looked at Montreal's packet 4 anyways. It states you cannot reschedule your interview to an earlier date, only a later one. Seems like we are out of luck up here.

Hmmmm...Last I checked, in Montreal there were only 4 time slots once a week (Wednesday) in the am. And they were 2 months away. So maybe they are similar? Does Tokyo have more than 4 appointments a week?

I probably should have been more specific in my previous post. I was looking for people who rescheduled through the Montreal Consulate. Thanks for your help tho 👍

We don’t get time slots... family type immigration all scheduled into one morning, but because k1 is the least priority we just get whatever is leftover (I believe they have August dates right now)

but apparently montreal cannot reschedule as @K1visaHopeful said so the system is different probably.

I just called and spoke to an agent. He said I can book an earlier date if I see one available. I wouldn't lose the one I have until finalize the changes. So to reiterate, I wouldn't have to drop my current one before while I start searching for another. I can keep the one I have now and swap it for a earlier one IF there is one available 😊

You should have told them to update the packet 4 they are currently send out with updated info too, lol. It says you cannot.

My packet has no mention of rules against  preponing the date. Can you send a snapshot? Thanks! Also, when did you get your Packet3 and Packet4? It must have come fast!!! Happy for you!💃

I can't upload it from Packet 4.

It's on the bottom of pg 1.

In red: "Please note"

I'll tell you my details when you finally start your timeline....🤣

Packet 4 is the appointment letter from the Consulate. It comes in the form of an email as all cases through Montreal are electronic so there is no page 1. The end of the email is a list of prohibited items that the interviewee cannot bring into the consulate. I don't see anywhere on Packet 4 that says anything about rules for/against preponing the interview date.  Maybe another Canadian can weigh in here?  Someone who has booked their interview date and has Packet 4 infront of them 🤔

Actually, I found what you're referring to. I had to Google Packet4 and found an old, outdated form which is definitely no longer in use. This is most definitely NOT the form I was sent. Montreal is electronic/digital now. Ignore this form you googled, it's outdated. I hope you get your Packet3 and 4 soon. 💃🌺

You're supposed to call the NVC for your case number. At that time YOU give the beneficiary email.  If you do not do it at this time you can still check your CEAC with your case number if acquired.  If not yes, Montreal will send the BENEFICIARY snail mail and the beneficiary will need to email the information back as Montreal.

Packet 3 IS available for download as well from the consulate without them ever sending you snail mail or email.  But without your case number from the NVC you won't get very far.

If the beneficiary and petitioner chooses not to be proactive or check their mail that's their fault.  Who the heck doesnt check their mail when you're doing something important? Honestly I'd be concerned that the petitioner didnt want the marriage or immigration to happen if the case sat around without letting the beneficiary know about NOA2 (at which point the beneficiary takes control of the process except for the I-134.)

Yessssss lol

Lol quite the contrary but that's just who he is. He's not a fan of the internet/email/mail.

My point was that it's rarely talked about that the Beneficiary must take it upon themselves to notify NVC of their email address at the NVC stage. I had to scour the forums on how to start receiving notifications as a beneficiary and tbh I came across many posts with the same question as mine and no one provided an answer.

If that is the process then all I am stating is that it should be part of the VJ K1 Flowchart. We all have to admit that waiting for NVC/the embassy to send snail mail is 1) not the ideal situation when we have already been waiting this long and 2) not ideal when we know that it's not a sure thing that Montreal will even mail out a Packet 3.

The instructions at the NVC stage are quite cryptic if you do research on VJ and Montreal's website being outdated/making no reference to the extremely specific K1 Visa process is not helpful at all.

Okay this thread is for REVIEWS not process questions.

Did the beneficiary not sign up on the USCIS website for updates? I did.  I knew about NOA2 before my husband did.  I called the NVC.  I sent them everything. I did ALL the leg work beyond mailing the I-130.  Be proactive. There's lots of threads on the k1 process at Montreal.
