A terror plot to assassinate Prime Minister Theresa May has been foiled, Sky sources have confirmed.

 

Sky's Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "It's the latest in a number of terror plots that police and MI5 believe they've foiled this year.

"I understand that the head of MI5, Andrew Parker, briefed Cabinet ministers today (Tuesday), such is the seriousness of what they believed they have uncovered.

"It is in essence an extreme Islamist suicide plot against Downing Street. Essentially police believe that the plan was to launch some sort of improvised explosive device at Downing Street and in the ensuing chaos attack and kill Theresa May.

Doesn't seem like it would have been a terribly effective plot. If you ever wanted to harm her, you would be better off trying it somewhere other than Downing Street.

 

The building is down the street from the road with public access. It's at least 100 feet (I'm not sure exactly how far). So they could only get that far before setting off the explosive. 

 

Then they assume that "in the ensuing chaos" they could somehow get inside and kill her. What do they think would happen? People would just run around in circles because an explosion went off? I'm sure the first thing the security there is trained to do is ensure that the PM is safe (using some codeword), and getting her into some sort of secure location that I'm sure exists underneath or somewhere connected to Downing Street.

 

Glad they were caught though.

It was a 'Ist' threat, nothing to do with Islam.
