Hi guys! Now that Christmas is coming and is family time I'm starting to feel very homesick and I miss everybody and every single thing back home, the food, the streets, the people, even the public transportation feels nostalgic to me right now lol  I always miss everybody back home but the feeling is very strong at this time of year. I love being here and I feel very lucky to have my husband and his family that now are mine too, but sometimes I'm afraid that this homesick feeling will never go away.  Does anybody feel the same way around Christmas if so how do you guys deal with feeling this way?

Focus even more on these three highly positive factors.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You can go home for a visit for the holidays. We do every other year here/there.

The holidays always tend to remind people of those who they can't be with. I'd recommend a trip to a Christmas market or other activities to stay busy. I'd also get in touch with friends and see what they're up to. It's hard to be so far away from family but you have your partner - that's family, too, and so is his family.

My wife is the same way,  I sent her home last year for Christmas.

I really feel for people who come here and leave family behind and then have to wait 90 to 270 days to get a Driver Licenses,  Work Authorization and all that stuff and basically be stuck in a house/apartment.   And then on top of that you have major holidays to deal with a way from your home and family.

Frankly, I don't know if I could of done it if I had to be the person leaving my hone country.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

I am missing my family more than I thought I would. I can not go home for the holidays as I am only just applying for AOS. But my husband and I are looking forward to our first Christmas together. We bought an artificial tree the other day and are going to go out and get ornaments for it this weekend. We also plan on starting a tradition of buying a personalized couple ornament every year to commemorate our relationship.

My brother-in-law was messaging me this morning so excited because he found out that the golf courses were open year round here and so sometime in the beginning of next year him, my sister and my niece are planning to come visit. He can go golfing and we can go to the zoo or mini golfing. lol My brother and sister-in-law are hoping to come down next year too. My sister-in-law has never been to the USA and is excited to. lol She just got her Canadian Citizenship. She is from the Philippines.

My husbands friends are making me feel quite welcome and the women in the group already told him they are stealing me for girls nights because he can't keep me to himself. lol My husbands Mom calls me once a week telling me how much she loves having a daughter-in-law who makes her son happy and we chat about cooking competition shows. haha

So hopefully I will stay busy enough to not miss them too much but just enough.
