Interesting, thanks. Do you know what's the difference of applying for citizenship after 5 years with the green card instead of 3?

Only people who get a green card through immediate family can apply after 3 years. So that is why it requires more evidence of marriage, etc.

For 5 years, most other types of green card holders are eligible at that point.

This is my understanding at least.

I don't believe there is any difference in the application process itself.

If you are asking whether there is a difference in how each type is processed / whether it takes a different average amount of time, I have no idea. You can review the thread I was talking about and see whether the postings there give you an answer.

ETA: I guess what the person replying above said is true, but this thread is for RoC specifically so I assume everybody participating is in the same scenario.

Hi Everyone!  We submitted our N400 by mail to the Houston Lockbox on 12/4 and received our I-797C NOA1 today.  Priority date 12/12/2018.  We checked our status and they scheduled the biometrics appointment today, so we will be checking the mail for the date to that.  Has anyone joined (or found) N400 Dec 2018 filers thread?  I guess many of us will be following both!

I'm curious if anyone else here saw this email from December 21, 2018 --it is a workload transfer of I-751's from VSC to TSC...I get those email blasts from USCIS so it came through but it doesn't show up on the USCIS website under workload transfers. And nobody in my law firm seems to have seen it either, although I sure as anything got the email. It also looks from processing times that VSC has moved up a little...but not much.

Hello! 😁

I have I-751 pending in CSC since Dec 6 2017 (based on marriage). My case status is frozen since March 5th showing they received my case to local office.

I applied for N400 yesterday online (I could have done it since Nov 2017), and I belong to San Bernandino USCIS field office which shows N400 processing time from 5.5 months to 14 months.

Today, the status online says they have received it and sending me NOA + estimated waiting time is 11 months (it doesn't mention I751 combined).

Reading different experiences here, it seems that this online updating somehow doesn't follow what happened with real timings.

Does anyone have experience with combo LA ft San Bernandino lately?

Muchas thanks 🤗
