Yes this is exactly right, the guy at the Pittsburgh office explained. This biometrics is simply to confirm you are the same person who applied for conditional residency 2 years ago. They check your fingerprints, signature, ID and photo. It's a fraud prevention thing. Totally normal.

I received my biometrics appointment letter today. My biometrics date is 1/29/2018!! What a relief!

Morning everyone

 

For those who have had their biometrics appointment, did they give you a sticker for your green card to show it's extended? A colleague from work is currently renewing a ten-year green card and she got given a sticker to show when her current card is extended to but I did not. They took my photo, fingerprints and signature and told me I could leave. 

 

Also, when I look at my case status on USCIS it's still in Received status. 

 

Just wanting to check I've not missed something.

I also did not get a sticker but you don't need one. Just make sure you have a copy of your receipt handy. I already renewed my PA drivers license with just the I-797, passport, green card and old license. No issues at all.

 

My case also still states received status with no updates. I would not be worried at all. Just in case things go wrong though make sure you have your biometrics receipt somewhere safe.

12/11/2017 - NOA date

12/24/2017 - NOA received

01/08/2018 - Sent I-865 late, oops

01/13/2018 - Received Biometrics appointment

01/23/2018 - Biometrics appointment in Pittsburgh PA

02/28/2019 - Approval letter received

I just did my biometric in Birmingham Alabama. I was 20mins late and i was out in 10mins. They also allow walks for those in this area. 

 

Time me to take a back seat and chill for my N400 window. My GC expired 12/3/2017 so I guess my N400 window opens Sept 2018?

Just a query, Can I travel outside country after biometric? Do I need any other forms to be filled or anywhere stamp needed?

You should only need your GC and the ROC NOA along with your passport.  The USCIS does not like to stamp the I-551 until less than 60 days before the ROC NOA (one additional year from GC expiration date) is expired.  One would think the USCIS would rather give everyone a I-551 stamp in their passport for those who will file for naturalization before the ROC time is up - then they don't need to worry about the GC printing/taking away and destroying process.  Then they could streamline the caseload - only those who want to remain PR's will get processed and those that will file for USC will just wait until the time comes.  

 

Oh well....

Received my NOA 1 for biometric , updated the date. Do anyone know if you can go for biometric before the due date like a day earlier or next.  i am travelling for work the  same week and i may have  to cut the travel dates shorted to be back for the biometric

Nope did not receive any sticker either. Just had my biometrics done today. All I got is the return biometrics letter with a red stamp and stapled with my details (height,weight,hair etc)

 

Sorry guys, haven't been updating, I was soooooooo sick lately, I hope I'll get well soon enough for saturday's flight!
