Interesting off-topic I found in the USC discussion thread was filing the N-400 online.  I don't think that option was available when we started our process (because I read through the whole visa-citizenship process as much as possible before starting this whole thing!) but someone commented that they were a USC within 90 days after filing online!

I would suspect that a pending ROC would muddy up that application, though.  It's something worth looking into for those of us that have that as the final step!

We've discussed and decided that we are going to wait for the 10-Year GC in hand before applying for the N-400 (like you said, so it doesn’t muddy things up).

Applying for the N-400 online? Is that actually possible? If so, they should do that for all applications. It would save precious time and loads of paper!

WOW. It probably takes them a while to digitalize the physical paperwork! Submitting online removes that step!

For me, it took merely 6 days between the time VSC received my package and I had NOA1 in the mailbox. I really wonder why some packages are processed faster, while others take a long time.

I agree. Though it also doesn't make any sense to make bio-metrics so early since most of us will need to do a second one, if the process is longer than 12 months...

My package was received on Tuesday and check is cashed today. Hopefully I will get NOA tomorrow. I included the barcode letter which attached with my wife's 2 year green card when they sent us a year and 9 months ago. On that barcode letter it says it could help them process it faster. I don't know if that is the reason some is faster than the others or not?!

Which service center are you, SilverWind?  (Awesome username!)  Your profile isn't updated, but our cases were received the same day and your check is already cashed!  Awesome!  ***Oh wait, you said earlier CSC!***

It seems that filing the N-400 online while an ROC is in progress doesn't stop anything - great news!  While some folks were saying they had to (or were told) filing within the 90 days early would delay their naturalization case from being processed, others say that did not happen to them.  In other words, some were saying USCIS waits until the 90 days has passed before they progress, but some timelines seem to indicate that is not really the case.

That is exciting to me because mom-in-law has one last remaining daughter due to be married next year and then she will be "alone", which really means she won't have any sons to live with since all her daughters will be married.  Since both her sons are here and we all live together, we were hoping to bring her here.  So if the USC case is processed within 4 months (seems the average case on this thread) and we file in Aug 2018, we should be doing pretty all right!  If you check out that thread, I recommend reading from the full site (not mobile site) so you can read people's timelines in their signatures.  That gives you an idea of how some have waited - and it's all within 2017!

General idea I got was the biometrics letter is within 3 weeks, interview was within 5-6 weeks and oath was within a month of that!  Yes!

Just to reassure over and over again to ease my mind.

After getting the NOA which is the extension letter, we good to travel right?

I'll prob wait for biometrics too, I dont want to miss it. Will buy our tickets home after getting it done.

But yeah so the so called I551 stamp everyone's talking about only happens when extension letter is about to expire, am I right?

If yes, when do we stamp it? like 30-60 days before extension letter ends?

I would to add for the Vermont folks who are waiting and waiting...

although our noa1 was dated the 11th, we did not receive it until the 26th and our check was not cashed until the 22nd.  Hope this eases some worries.

I believe so.  The extension letter is just like a GC in practice.  I think waiting until after the Biometric letter is a good idea since the previous month’s filers seem to get theirs within 3 weeks or less of their NOA and there is not much previous notice given before the date!

Not sure about the I-551 stamp, but would be good to know.  Why don’t they just give everyone who files for ROC one during biometrics?

I know right! Especially after reading one of the threads in ROC, that poster can't leave, they refused to give her a stamp, her extension is expiring and she wants to go home :(

My husband applied for vacation in February, I hopeeeeeeee fingers crossed that I can get to do biometrics or received the letter by Jan, I can reschedule as long as they send me one.

My Conditional Green Card expires 03/21/2018.

I sent my joint i-751 overnight via the US postal service on 12/21/2017 and it was delivered 11am on 12/22/17 to the California Service Center.

I received my NOA1 today 12/28/2017 and it stated my receipt date is 12/22/2017.

Can i be added to the December 2017 filers thread? I don't know how.

Thank you

WOW! Your file is massive!!!

Are all of your documents really needed? I would double-check. Unless they are just pages and pages of bank account withdrawals and additions, I suppose. Most people just go overboard on what they actually need. (Just trying to save you a few bucks on the shipping haha).

Ours was about a quarter of what you’re sending.
