I received my biometrics appointment letter today. My biometrics date is 1/29/2018!! What a relief!

There's a very quick turnaround at the VSC. It appears that checks are cashed once a week or every other week. The NOA1 are sent within a week of receiving the application.

 

If you haven't updated your information below, please do so. It will be great to have some more data points.

 

I went to extend my license. The lady seemed quite familiar with the procedure. She scanned my I-797 and submitted to the legal team. Within 30 minutes,  she received an email stating that it would take up to 10 business days to verify legal presence. Unfortunately, I will be out of luck and won't be able to drive for some time.

WOW, that's a very short turnaround between getting a letter in hand and having a biometrics appt... I wonder why it took 11 days to get the letter in hand.

I believe most of us can expect the biometric appointment in January.  It seems to be the fastest thing in this process!

 

 I am wondering if the CSC works a little faster with the front end (processing checks and NOA’s) but VSC works faster overall (with approvals).  I will be watching to see if that theory is right or wrong.  

 

We are CSC and given the holiday, our package arrived this Tuesday.  I think our NOA will be the first week of January or so.  If we had known it takes so long for them to cash the check, we could have sent the petition earlier in the week!  Oh well-no harm, no foul!!

I agree. Though it also doesn't make any sense to make bio-metrics so early since most of us will need to do a second one, if the process is longer than 12 months...

They better not charge us for a second one! (Not including the N-400) 

 

Hoping it won’t take that long to begin with. I’ll be happy with 11 months! Lol

Interesting off-topic I found in the USC discussion thread was filing the N-400 online.  I don't think that option was available when we started our process (because I read through the whole visa-citizenship process as much as possible before starting this whole thing!) but someone commented that they were a USC within 90 days after filing online!

 

I would suspect that a pending ROC would muddy up that application, though.  It's something worth looking into for those of us that have that as the final step!
