@Nayda So your USC case is delayed because of your ROC and your ROC is delayed because of your USC?  That’s a bunch of bull corn!  I believe you have 120 days until you can sue for citizenship, right?  Something to that effect.  I would recommend you consider getting your representative involved and maybe the USCIS ombudsman.  They don’t seem to know which way is up for your case!  You can get citizenship, why would they require you to wait for ROC?  I know that’s the procedure, but they haven’t smoothed out the cracks for you despite trying different points of contact within the agency.

Most of the cases, they stop processing I-751 when you apply N-400, at least that is the case for me.  Applied i-751 Nov 17,  No approval, then Nov 18 applied  N-400.  No action on I-751, but got N-400 interview.  Will see next week what will be the outcome of I-751

The thing is (I already wrote a long a** story about it two days ago), nobody tells you this. My local office requested TWICE from CSC to send them my I751 , so it could be approved together with N400, no one replied, EVER.

the I751 is not a priority for them, and this is an issue.

I don’t get it , how come the offices don’t coordinate, and if officer in local office can actually approve myI751, CSC should hand over the job to the local office on request.

Have you applied for N400? Now, the newest answer I got yesterday from USCIS is that my I751 is delayed because I applied for N400. And I already had interview.

The newest answer is that my ROC is delayed cos of applying for N400!

the officer who did my n400 interview said the decision on the citizenship has to be done in 90 days from the day of the interview.

He also said I751 is not a priority in CSC

After July 6th, when it will be 19months, the timing will be over for processing my I751. I will get on writing the letters to the government departments.

Thank you! 🙃

I applied N-400 in Dec 18. No updates on both. My I-751 is still within normal processing time, deemed by USCIS so I can't inquire about my case. Very frustrating indeed...

Was it 90 or 120 days?

Anyone here has had experiences with renewing their driver license with their I-751 pending? I received DMV notice to renew my driver license, and it said I'm eligible to do it online, which I did. Well, here's my situation: I'm December 2017 CSC filer, no biometrics given, filed N400 as soon as became eligible (Last update on my I-751 was in 2018 with a "Name Was Updated"-honestly I don't know what is going on at this point). My 18 month extension expires some time this September, following my DL a month later. Now my question is that even though I was able to do the renewal online, would DMV still ask for a in person appointment, given my timeline? I've been reading stories about DMV not accepting the extension letters but passport stamps. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi, I renewed mine during pending with extension letter, they usually will give you till your extension date expires. Nothing exceeds the date of expiration, as for passport stamp, I'm not sure about that one.

So I email USCIS regarding my N400 interview, since my I-751 is still pending, to ask if they can confirm that this will be a combo interview. I quote that article @Amhara sent (chapter 5 of the policy manual) stating that they should approve that either before or concurrently with the N400. This is the completely useless reply I got:

Thank you for your inquiry dated June 19, 2019.

Requesting information about your N-400, Application for Naturalization:

USCIS systems indicate that on June 03, 2019., we created and mailed you an Interview Appointment Notice. You may also view and print a copy of your Interview Appointment Notice within your USCIS online filing system account. After you log in to your USCIS online filing system account, access the Home Tab to find the "Documents" field to view or print your official appointment notice from USCIS. You must take the Interview Appointment Notice and photo ID to your appointment. Please review the Interview Appointment Notice for any other requirements.

If you need to reschedule the appointment, please return a copy of the Interview Notice with your explanation and a request for a new appointment to the Field Office address listed on the Interview Notice.

To determine current processing time within USCIS:

  • Visit https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
  • Select N-400; Application for Naturalization from the Form dropdown
  • Select the Field Office processing the application from the Field Office dropdown
  • Click “Get Processing Time” link

If your receipt date is before the Case Inquiry Date, you can submit an “outside normal processing time” service request online.

In preparation for the Civics test portion of your interview, please visit: www.uscis.gov/citizenship/learners/study-test/study-materials-civics-test/uscis-naturalization-interview-and-test-video. You may also download the USCIS: Civics Test Study Tools app. The mobile app is available in the Apple app store and the Google Play app store.

Please note that extended absences outside of the United States may affect your ability to naturalize. USCIS policy requires that an applicant for naturalization must have resided continuously in the United States up to the time of naturalization. For more information on the Continuous Residence requirement, click here.

For general information about what to expect during the naturalization process, please visit our website at: my.uscis.gov/citizenship/what_to expect.

If you need more assistance with your USCIS online filing system account, please submit another inquiry to the USCIS Contact Center at my.uscis.gov/account/needhelp or log into your online account for specific case inquiries and contact us at my.uscis.gov/account/inbox.

If you move remember to update your address in the USCIS online filing system or contact the USCIS Contact Center at my.uscis.gov/account/needhelp or log into your online account for specific case inquiries and contact us at my.uscis.gov/account/inbox. You must also update your address using our online tool at uscis.gov/addresschange.

In the future, you can visit myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov to sign up for a USCIS online account where you can explore filing online, send us secure messages and get instant updates on the status of your case. You can see your account information and make inquiries any time and on any device.

We hope this information is helpful.

@aionescu So their response is pretty much, “We don’t understand, so here are a bunch of standard paragraphs related to the N-400 interview.”

🤦‍♀️

Make sure you mail (don’t email) the letter to the address of where your interview will be.  It will get to your IO.

Signature coming soon...
