Got my citizenship interview - assume it'll be a combo - on 6/12

All,

I'm a divorce waiver filer and got approved on 04/16. I jointly filed to CSC in Dec 2017 and requested a waiver in Nov 2018 once the divorce proceedings had commenced. They sent me an RFE in March 2019 requesting the divorce decree. I responded to the RFE on April 4th and got approved on 04/16.

Congrats to you both!

The hopelessly outdated processing times on the USCIS website give the end of October 2017 for CSC and the middle of October 2017 for VSC.  This means that those (maybe of us...not sure of the status of our case at the moment...) might be able to inquire about a case outside of normal processing times.  For my husband, his CGC is only good for another 4.5 months.  We really should have asked her to go ahead and stamp his passport with the I-751 stamp, especially since he's traveling in June.  If there are problems getting the GC (if everything was approved properly, then six weeks may not be enough time to sort it out.

But at least all of us should be out of this waiting status soon.  The old format would three months behind, so if the USCIS site said October 2017, that was really October three months ago.  If we can't find any information today, we may just go ahead and submit a case status inquiry online.  USCIS hates phone calls...

Hello Everyone,

My husband had his USC interview this past Tuesday.  Unfortunately, we didn't complete the move, so we didn't meet the 90 day requirement for the citizenship.  The IO was very nice and conducted the ROC interview with us.  She asked if we had any additional evidence to add, to which I gave the 2018 tax return, and started going through insurance (medical and life) policies.  The IO mentioned that we gave a lot of evidence during the initial mailing and said that what we had should be enough.  I let her know that two of our bank accounts are still joint, but one account is now separate; she didn't seem to have a problem with that.

She said she would approve the ROC, but would need to transfer the USC case back to Dallas since we didn't complete our move.  She did mention that if we had completed the move, they would have re-scheduled the interview to a few months down the road to meet the 90 day residency requirement, which I thought was very helpful.  She was planning on stamping my husband's passport, since his GC shows an expired date to help prevent from having to carry around the letter.  But then she decided not to since she will be approving the case and he should receive his 10-year before a trip out of the country in June.

I was hoping to receive a notification that day, but we didn't get anything.  The DHS/USCIS USC case updated to a transferred notification, but the USCIS case did not update.  So now we are back in limbo.  I have a theory that the IO may have approved the CR-89 case, which we don't have.  Now we wish we had asked for the I-751 stamp, but in the worse case scenario, the extension letter is still effective until September of this year and we should know something by May.

We called USCIS, but tier two reps weren't taking any more transfers for the day.  The saga continues into next week.  We kept the mailing address as my mother's address, (the one we were going to move to temporarily) and updated the physical address with the IO.  My brother-in-law had a horror story about trying to get his daughter's GC delivered to their address, so I don't know if we are going to be facing that or not.  Best case, we should be finished with ROC by May 2019; next month.  Worst case, we will have no idea of his ROC before he travels out of the country in June....

Concurrently, given the Dallas processing time, we don't expect to think about the citizenship interview until October 2019, but realistically, will have the interview in January - February 2020.

Thank you for the update.

Do you know, Maybe, after all this what happened at your interview:

- If I live in Los Angeles and move from one zip code to another, and from one USCIS office to another, do they count 90 days, or no, cos it is still the same county/city/state?

- Do they ask for any mail with your name and latest address, or both of spouses names on mail?

- what if I have lived at friend’s place and I don’t have a lease with my name on it for the last 4 months?

- what if I have lived at friend’s place and I don’t have a lease with my name on it for the last 4 months?

Based on the explanation the IO gave:

1. If your new address is still within the field office jurisdiction, then the 90 days doesn’t affect it.  It’s between field offices that counts.  So if you are moving to another field office, then the officer said they could re-schedule the interview later to make sure we met the timeframe.

2. She didn’t ask for any mail, but she did explicitly ask if the address on the petition was current.  Ours was Texas, so we had some ‘splaining to do.  For the ROC, we would have shown documents with the address on it and with both our names on them.

3. If you lived there, you should update the address, regardless of lease.  I think in that situation, they would ask for drivers license or ID card.  The IO didn’t go so far as to ask for proof of residence, but I could imagine that happening.  However, if we had moved and answered “yes, that’s the current address,” the interview may have very well continued on as normal.  For the USC interview, I don’t believe that proving the address is a requirement, but I really don’t know.

I have the date of my citizenship interview, but my I-751 is still pending.  How do I know for sure that it's a combo interview?  Thanks!

one more thing: at the interview, did you have/bring new ID of the state you moved to,

or previous state’s IDs?

not sure why Dec filers are moving slower than Jan/Feb 2018...

By the way, thats really good information that you shared Amhara, I didn't know of the 90 days..

@crazycat Just wait for alittle more before you take citizenship if it requires to give up ur home country, I thought about it for a long time, I'm glad that I waited..but now my concerns are getting a good job :(

Hey guys if you're a Dec filer and your name is not here, please do provide us your information:

@Mario barrios

Mario & Unchanged I am still in the same boat as you guys. Dec 2017 filer California service center. I also got the re use biometrics letter in the mail in February. When I check my status on the uscis.gov page I have the "case transferred on June 18, 2018 and the new office has jurisdiction". I think there are still a handful of us yet to be approved. From what I noticed most of us that are left to get approved did not fill for citizenship. I hope they get to us soon. This wait is just crazy

I have not done the citizenship process. I have had many expenses with my family and my wife.  We are waiting since December, just like you, the page says that they are working with October 23, that is to say, still missing, it also says that the maximum processing time is up to 19 months.  Did you already do the InfoPass?  my extension expires in June

I did not do the info pass. I got the 18month extension so I still have few months left. All we can do is wait. It's the 17th month now since we filed. If nothing after 19th month I believe we can say its beyond processing times posted.

ok the extension of 18 months expires in June that is to say the next month.  You have to do the infopass before the expiration expires, do you understand?  already applied for the coudadania
