Interesting situation - lost green card, reported, and then found it months later.

Hi everyone,

I'm in a rather interesting position, one I haven't dealt with before.

Long story short, I traveled to Croatia this summer to visit some friends and spend the summer there. About a week after I arrive, I notice I can't find my green card (the actual physical card) anywhere...

After 5 complete shakedowns of the apartment and tracing every place I've been to in the previous last few days, I still could not find it. I notified the US Embassy about it and they explained the procedure from there on (getting the boarding foil so I be accepted onto the US-bound flight) and got into the US with no issues.

Now, fast forward 3 months and my friend finds my green card in his backpack randomly! Very happy about it so I don't have to pay the renewal and wait forever...but wanted to know if there was anything I needed to do? or anyone I need to notify?

Just looking to follow procedure so I don't have any issues down the line, especially since I will be applying for US citizenship in 2018.

Appreciate any helpful tips! Thank you!
