I posted this earlier today in the very long Name Check thread, but here it is again:

Ok folks, here is an update: Went for info pass this morning and was told that my name check came back clear from the FBI on 4-17-2007 and uploaded into USCIS computer on 4-26-2007. Ofcourse they did not even bother to check until i went there this morning. Anyhow, the officer printed her computer screen showing the name check results and said that she would put it in my file. I then asked about fingerprints as mine have expired long ago, and the officer filled out a fingerprint form and asked me to go get finger printed tomorrow. She then said that I would have to come back for an interview (wife and I) so naturally I informed the officer that we already had an interview almost a year ago, and she was shocked or surprised to hear that (what does that tell you about their inner workings??) She then consulted with another officer who told her that interviews are conducted but await FBI name check completion. This also tells me that if i had not gone down there to inquire this morning, they would have sat on it for a few more months probably.

So it was good news long over due this morning and we are happy that we are one step closer, hopefully it will all end soon. Good luck to everyone else on here.

My FBI name check was requested by USCIS on February 02, 2006, so it took almost 15 months to be completed.

My husband and I are contemplating making an InfoPass appointment as soon as I'm done with post-planning, so I don't have to take a whole day off from work. His already approved and in his hands EAD and AP were touched 4/28/07 which doesn't make any sense. He's had these documents in his hand since December 06.

Hi, we went in for an infopass appointment a few weeks ago. We filed in late Sept 2006, were interviewed in early Dec 2006, and we are still in FBI namecheck-land. The infopass officer did not seem very sure of herself. She just said that the application (petition for I-130 as well as the I-485 itself) was pending namecheck.

I feel frustrated being in limbo like this, knowing that it could take years (or just a few more days) to clear.

It's been over six months now. Does anyone know if that means that our wait is going to be _really)_long?

Hubby's EAD expires in mid-December. Does anyone know how far in advance we can apply for renewal? Last time it took longer than 90 days.

Okay...

I am waiting for my namecheck too...

My NOA 1 is from November 2006

My interview was in March 2007

I was told by the interviewer that my name, by their mistake, was never submitted to the FBI until my interview.

Is there any use in calling the information line to know if the name check was cleared or do I need an Infopass appointment?

I was planning to make a monthly visit to the USCIS until I get approved... Any advice?

Thanks.

does any one knows how to contact FBI about name checking

so far cander, i dont think anyone knows what part of the process you are in to advise you further. if you are the consulate (visa) level this part of the process is completely different than having security clearances done on you.

to answer your question directly - the FBI does not answer inquiries anymore.

you can't

[source]

Who can I call to check on the status of my name check?

The FBI will only respond to status inquiries from its customer agencies. Please contact the organization receiving your original application. In Citizenship and Immigration cases, contact USCIS for the status.

We got our Congressional Reps, and Senators to make inquiries. The FBI will only confirm when they received the file. They will not give a time line of completion in the interest of National Security.
