Does anyone know if you rent a uhaul from Canada, can you do a 1 way trip or you have to drop it off at a location in Canada?

My fiance plans to rent a uhaul van from Columbus, drive it here, pick me up with my stuff and drive back the next day, dropping it back at the Columbus location.

But whether you can drop a Canadian vehicle at a US location is probably another matter.

Here's a thread about taking a uhaul from the US into Canada...still looking for an answer about doing the opposite.

Hi everyone;

First of all I want to thank you all for every single day for the distraction :)

You have nooo idea how important this is to me, and how lucky I feel that I ended up in this forum and I sent that tiny message to @Shoegum just to help when September starts!

I get lots of "do i ever sleep"s hehe I found them cute btw. I do sleep.

But believe me, and I know some of you will understand, I needed a huge distraction from my life.

I closed the chapter of being an Expat in Japan, but stuck here because of this K1 phase.

I am in a job that when you joke nobody laughs (Seriously I ran into a glass door the other day an laughed it off, and normally people would laugh with you so you won't feel bad or say "are you ok" but nooooo ..They gave me this look and I felt bullied...) I started that job thinking I can help the world, I ended up doing nothing. And helping people here reminded me of what I want to do when I go to my love, and when I start a new chapter for myself.

sooo, I will be away from next week till mid-June in the real life for a while (Cause yay my love is coming) and seeing all of us here some can't even meet at the moment, I feel so lucky and grateful.

And all my heart goes to all of you who are soo close yet feels so far at the moment.

Please by the time I'm back all of you be waiting for VoH instead :)

Annnnnd, before I go for my last week of duty of this year!!!

Sorry this is a bit premature, but by any chance does anyone have any ideas/thoughts on what they are doing for healthcare once they are in the US/married? I know that it is possible to get temporary healthcare for the duration of having a K1 visa (ie. before married after POE) but has anyone thought of how to obtain their healthcare once married? I'm just wondering to see if there is a way to get legal immigrant coverage or something? I know that most people will probably be covered by their spouse, particularly if they have employer-sponsored healthcare, but a lot of states seem not to cover legal immigrants until they have had 5 years of legal immigrant status... therefore, what are people doing if their spouse doesn't have a decent healthcare package with work? Do we have no option but to obtain expensive individual coverage? Open enrolment is now so my fiancé and I have just been discussing this...

Wow that is not cool, and I had no idea some states wouldn't allow for the spouse to add the other to their healthcare prior to 5 years! I hope NY isn't like that.. My fiance was just going to add me to his once we marry, since that's when his insurance accepts me. However, if it takes a month for us to marry since we'll need to apply for the SSN, I will be uncovered, but may be able to use my emergency credit card health insurance for travelling abroad.

@marinapoli It is possible to get temporary 'visitor/visa holder' healthcare for the 90 days your k1 visa is valid for (or until change of status ie. you get married) - I looked into this and it is about $70 for the whole time which isn't bad. I don't believe it covers a lot... but I think covers basic things like general practitioner visits. My fiancé is planning on adding me to his health insurance via work also, however, his work contributes almost nothing to the insurance so we were just considering if there were any other options for immigrant spouses. NJ only covers low income/unemployed immigrants if you have legally lived in the state for 5 years... and regardless this is income tested according to the household so often most don't qualify. It's a shame that us legal immigrants are somewhat forgotten when it comes to healthcare options and forced to get individual coverage if our fiancés don't have an option at work... which I'm sure is a financial struggle for most especially with not being allowed to work until we received EAD.

It means it will be delivered to the US embassy where you will have your interview. (the US embassy you indicated on the I-129f form)

Ah ok, so I misunderstood, there's no impediment to add your spouse to your private health insurance via employer, just for the free healthcare we would need to wait 5 years. Yes, it is expensive and my fiance will also have to pay a few hundred dollars a month to add me..another thing we need to pay for. This whole process is so expensive! And then we'll want to have kids, and a house, omg so much spending we best just take one step at a time. Waiting for NOA2 lol
