my app says I'm at day 184, i think on my timeline I have my NOA1 date as the 8th (that's the date it shows on the NOA1), but the case tracker shows they  received my application on the 6th, not sure which date goes on the NOA1 date

I see. Yep I used to use that app too. I think it is USCISAPP. Case Tracker aligns better with the site here and you can search. I believe most people here use the “received” date.  Mine is June 6 (day 184 on Case Tracker).

Seems the fastest way to find out about your case is the App or logging on the website.

And the scan by @vocaledge let's us know the overall progress so we can have an idea where the USCIS is in their processing.

Therefore I would not wait for scans if you want the info fastest on your individual case.

They all go to a lockbox first.  That is where they take the check.  From there they go to the service center that handles the petition.  I'm in Chicago and I sent my petition to the Dallas Lockbox.  Your petition is with all of our I-129Fs waiting to be assigned to an adjudicator.
