Depends...

You usually can't submit an inquiry unless it's been over the 6month or the date they have posted on the website.

They give you the whole "it's within normal processing times" speech.

Even online, the form won't allow you to submit.

So if they do allow you to submit an inquiry then it will add to their workload, but only cause your case obviously needs to be looked cause of one reason or another.

The over 6 months is not true! I'm at day 185 today, tried to submit the outside of normal processing request yesterday, but it gave me the message that we're still in normal processing time.

So yes, that will only work when the date on their website is past your received date.

Looks like 355191 was approved yesterday too.

Also saw these RFE's sent today, 7 December

351399

351400

354740

357315

They seem to have touched 300 cases since the 1st of December which isn't too bad when they are still working on May and the remaining April cases. At least they are looking at more cases a day than they were September time.

Yes I do but is that the only way?

You can enter your information on the VJ timeline and it can give you an estimate of when you might get it.

But it's just an estimate. It doesn't go past 180 days.

Oh yes. They are currently taking 6-7 months for approvals.

If you filed in October, then your estimate would be around April/May 2018.

I thought it was 3 to 5 months

Maybe they will pick up the pace next year?

But as of now, it stands at 6-7 month average.

Yes I think you are right! My only concern right now will be going over to Philadelphia next week until the new year as last time I went I was called into secondary inspection for going over too many times in one year :/ Every time before I had work to prove my ties back to the UK so this time may be a bit more difficult. I just had a lot of annual leave to use so going for a long weekend worked out well for me.

I agree with you regarding if it matters too much about jobs as my job isn't carrying over to the US with me either.. I work in the legal field in the UK and my qualifications aren't transferable so I'm embarking on a brand new career anyway! I just hope that it doesn't hinder me by not being employed... and it seems to look like it won't!

Ugh, yeah that is part of why my fiancé has been afraid to visit again since we submitted our petition, because he wasn't sure if he had enough to prove reason for him to return to Sweden. He's a chef, so he will be starting over totally new also; doesn't have a company he can transfer through or anything. That part probably sucks the most. I wish I could give him a job as soon as he gets here, because not working is already weighing heavily on him and he isn't even here yet, lol.

Good luck to you and I hope your entry for your trip goes smoothly!! Perhaps the officer that day will be in a good mood :)

Håll ut, y'all.

It matters for the us citizen but not for the beneficiary

That's what I have been assuming (I am the USC, he is the beneficiary). As long as I'm employed, his status probably won't matter much, work wise.
