Hi Guys!

I am hoping that you, especially UK-filers, can help us with the RFE that we just received today.

Just a bit of history, my fiancé and his ex-wife are both Americans, married in the US, work transfer in UK back in 1996, their divorce was finalized also in UK in 1997. To show proof that my fiancé's prior marriage was terminated, we sent a Certificate making Decree Nisi Absolute (Divorce) - it contains a seal from The Family Court and handwritten dates but no signature. The RFE that my fiancé received today stated that that Certificate does not suffice, what they (USCIS) need is a copy of the final divorce decree signed by a judge or magistrate that shows proof of filing that terminated the prior marriage of my fiancé and his ex-wife.  Where and how can my fiancé obtain this document bearing a judge's signature?

Thanks in advance for your help.

NOA 1 - June 27

I hope this helps.  I had one of those too because I’m originally from Massachusetts.  It is a Commonwealth and not a state.  A Nisi basically says that they are going to grant your divorce and it will be final or “absolute” in a certain number of days.  So just write them and get the certificate of divorce absolute.

For all June 23rd filers. Have you set a tentative date for the wedding? if yes, what month?

I am thinking Late April or Late May

I’m the 22nd and am thinking/hoping sometime in May? We are just having a small gathering as this isn’t our first marriage

Well, after what you said before... Oh man. I cheered when you said about the RFE. The relief. I can only imagine how happy you was 💜

No idea! I really wasn’t expecting an RFE, then again I have no clue how they address  deportation cases. It would be interesting if there were post about this from people who had similar situations here. All I can say it’s that I have a bit of hope now and can’t wait to see what the RFE is all about. Thanks 😍😘❤️

RFE 2017-12-13  it was the biometrics. Addresses for 5 years and a box not checked. It was the box asking if we were related!!! I guess I didn't check it because I thought how ridiculous. But then there's always something!!.

Don't want to be the pessimist one at all, forgive me guys.. We all want the same thing.. But I look at things this way :

I am a June 6th filer and we look at August dates for wedding..

Cause even if we get approve next week, the nvc wait, the medical, the interiew and the Visa in hands.. All that will take about 4 months total..

I HOPE I am wrong, but realistically I don't think I am far from the truth..

If you don't have NOA2 yet as of today, late April is likely not doable, especially since your fiancee is Filipino. While I've read the stories about the embassy in Manila potentially having earlier interview options if you keep checking, the main consensus here is that it'll be roughly a month, if not longer.

You may have seen my posts from earlier this week that my fiance and I cancelled our wedding date for end April. We're not risking it.

Besides CSC to NVC delays, who knows what other delays there might be from NVC till VOH.

One example is a couple from the May thread I've been in touch with (American petitioner, Dutch beneficiary). The fiancee was interview approved just before Thanksgiving. Based on the interview approval, they set their wedding date for December 16th with the expectation that the fiancee would have her VOH in the week after. However, after Thanksgiving the consulate system was down which made that they couldn't process her visa. While I had advised them to not risk such a tight time frame, they gave friends and fam the go to book their flights once she was interview approved. She ended up getting her visa 2 days before the wedding and booked her flight super last minute while her fam and friends had already traveled to the US a couple days before. Stressful!

Just the fact that AP is a possibility, a dumb embassy system being down (if that was actually the case), or some other - you better keep your time frame as wide as possible.

I'm hoping the exact same thing, but I'm with you there with those calculations. I'm thinking POE for me would be possible early May if we get approved some time next week.

Side note: I keep getting confused thinking that you're a fellow Dutch filer based on the French flag under your name. It's just that the colors are swapped in the other direction
