I have given up trying to guess... This is the second day in a row now... but... what I dont understand is...

(I dont have an NOA1 in front of me)... but doesn't it say specifically to track your case status online....?  I dont understand how they can direct you to do such a thing, and then not update it comprehensively and say "the online status is a privelege for you, not a requirement for us"......?!?!?!  Take it off of your NOA1 official documentation then FFS.

(I'm getting more annoyed by this department EVERY day.)

I don't have enough shrugs and face palms left....

Doubt it. Tons of updates aren't put up online anymore, especially approvals, so it's probably slightly better than it seems.

Have to wonder what’s going on with their system since they aren’t entering approvals anymore 🤔 I hope people do receive them in the mail soon...but of course don’t understand why we signed up for email and text notification only to get nothing? Perhaps they’re making some changes for 2018...

I would like to think that it's something like this:

1. We complain because we are not getting service

2. Congressmen start calling because we are complaining

3. Employees start complaining to their managers about how many calls they're getting about NOA2

4. Internal service times are down, which makes the department look bad for year end audits

5. They start to trim the fat, meaning that they would take away some of the NON mandatory parts of the process (like online updates) in an attempt to increase service speeds

What has changed in the last few months that may be affecting procedures and communication at the USCIS?   For example, I notice the last time the processing time table was updated on the USCIS website was October 31st.

Well, a new director of USCIS was appointed on October 5th.   You can read more here about who he is here:

Thank you for the info.

about that processing times though: The last time the table updated was December 26. The data is "as of" October 31. They use old data of about 2 months ago this is nothing new.

Ok, I am new here (January 2018 filer), so thanks for the clarification.

The wikipedia article referenced this reporting from The Hill that is a bit interesting and may shed some light on the agenda of the new director.

I hear you on that.  I'm talking to Rose right now.  If I visit in February I won't be able to come back for the interview and trip to their new home.  They still want me to come but I really want to escort them home.  This is truly a very difficult decision.

Then what happens if they cant come until June or July.  February to July will be way too long without them...  Time to win the lottery.

That is pretty difficult, multiple trips in a single year can be financially draining. I told my fiancé that we’ll just wait and it’s okay if he can’t go here soon because of work and of course financial restrictions. (Though I want to see him so bad but I need to be practical) I keep saying that if he was an Uber away I’d definitely go see him right now. Everyday.

Yeah I’ll buy a scratch off later 😂😂😂

I called a tier 2 just trying to find out WHY it takes so long, I knew something had changed and was trying to get the info out of him. He eventually asked if I wanted him to put in a request to have it sent immediately. I said well I don't feel comfortable with that because it's just been a week and there are those who've waited for 6-7. He said it doesn't affect them and it's my choice, I thought he was just trying to appear like he was helping me without actually being able to do anything, but I said okay what the heck why not. I guess it worked.

Interesting...when did you make this call after your NOA2--few days, a week, two weeks?

Well, maybe this has already been discussed in the June forum, but US Homeland Security began collecting social media information on immigrants on October 18th last year. That was also a while ago now, but depending on how much data they need to collect and sift through, this could've definitely been a part of the delays since.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/28/us/politics/immigrants-social-media-trump.html

They collect that data at the interview stage so the affect wouldn't be at the petition level. Because the info needed is from the beneficiary not petitioner.

I haven't gotten a single update from the app since last week.  It doesn't make sense as it used to ping all day long.....I guess it doesn't matter to me but it makes me wonder what the heck their up to!

Perpetual self deprecating sarcasm - its a way of life!

NOA1 -  6/26/2017

NOA2 - 1/4/2018
