Hi Junies -

I got my NOA2 in the mail today and am confused - please help. Applied June 6th and was approved on Jan 4th.

The approval reads - "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. .. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would now like them to forward the petition to a different consulate."

So - my case skipped the NVC? I thought the process was USCIS > NVC > Consulate. Its exciting that it's going straight to the consulate but I just want to make sure I interpreted it correctly.

Also, it does not indicate listed consulate. On the I-129F I had listed New Delhi, India so I am assuming that's where they sent it.

Also calling USCIS to confirm all this but wanted to check with the group here as some of you may be in the same boat as I am :)

Thanks!

Yep, those are about my calculations too, even though the US consulate in Amsterdam is supposedly a fast one.

My fiance and I had tentatively set our wedding date for April 29. We decided yesterday (after many discussions over the last couple weeks) to cancel those plans and to just do a courthouse wedding after POE. We'll decide on a reception at a later stage.

All this uncertainty and still no NOA2 is driving me nuts. I don't want wedding planning stress because of a dumb visa. Not good for the peace in our relationship, hehe :)

I think you will be very happy with that decision.  I couldn't imagine adding the stress of a wedding on top of waiting for NOA2.  We are also going that route.  A small courthouse wedding with just a few friends and family then a big reception later when we actually have time to arrange everything.

Can I ask, did you find out about your NOA2 when you received it in the mail? Was it updated online before that?

I know there are still 3 hours left in the day but I decided to run a scan of the 499 petitions before mine.  Most fall on June 6.  Today showed no approvals or RFEs.  Nothing at all since a January 4 approval and an RFE response received.  Nothing.  Lets hope the next 3 hours are good.

Yep....I understand.

I also like "my wife."

But, K1 still has best path to naturalization.

That is important for guaranteed re-entry.

Hang in there....it will come.

Actually, if they stopped the K-1 and started a CR-1 petition they would still have the Green Card sooner and be quicker to naturalization.  Wow, that is sad.  To say that starting a new 12 month process will be quicker than completing a process already started 6 months ago seems so illogical.  Sad but true.  18 more months to GC with K-1, 12 months to GC CR-1 from scratch.  That doesn't even talk about the $1000 savings.

Got my call back from uscis teir II. So here is how it went. We were approved dec. 11. Asked about my petion because we havent heard anything since our approval. The lady states, that my petition was sent to NVC electronically after it was approved. And that it takes up to 6 weeks for them to receive it in there system. But it does show it was sent to NVC. Really???? They must have updated the sheet that they read their answers from. SMH:wacko:
