We are considering the same thing. It is cheaper and much quicker to green card. It is tough because we are already at day 215. I really don’t expect to see anything before day 230 to 240 if we are lucky. Still, going there to get married and then wait another 14 months for POE is a tough call. I expect that the K-1 is a year long process that we are already 7 months into. I am hoping for POE within 5 months but that is probably pushing it.  That will be a year since we filed.

If if I were starting the process today I would not even consider a K-1.

I can’t inagine starting over again!!! We considered getting married in Canada but there were hoops to jump through because we both were divorced in the states...which was going to cost us even more money. Now I’m thinking it might’ve been worth it? We just had no way of knowing things were going to drag on like this 😭 It’s definitely getting harder since passing the 6 month mark

If we knew it was a 12 month process for K-1 plus another year for green card the 14 months of the CR-1 would be a much cheaper walk in the park. Now it is even hard to imagine POE.

Wait green card is a year now? Thought it was 6-9 months?

Everything has slowed down. 12 months is a worse case scenario. I was told 3 to 5 months for NOA2 and we just passed 7 months. I think 12 for Green Card is more realistic than 6 to 9. Maybe I’m a little pessimistic!  Lol

Let’s be honest...it already sucks.  We are 7 months in with no information at all. We are told we haven’t been assigned yet so I’m thinking it will be at least a few more weeks. Then 8 weeks for USCIS to send to NVC. Another month for NVC then another month to schedule the interview and do medical. After that a couple weeks before VOH and then we can look into actual POE.

Yes, it already sucks... 😟🤪

I know it seems crazy, but me and my fiancé keep talking about withdrawing and submitting a cr-1.

Only because there are so many hurdles, and at least we would already be married! Seeing so many people unexpectedly denied or placed in ap for months/years is scary. I know it can happen with a cr1 too, but I wouldn’t be worrying as much.

we’re obviously going to see it through but only because we have waited for so long.

Then reading this yesterday blew me.

USCIS has also put in place new interview requirements for U.S. citizens seeking to bring over their fiancés. In the first nine months of 2017, approvals of fiancé visas dropped by 35 percent over the same period a year earlier, the Reuters data review found.”

I would like to know what this is about? As far as I know the U.S. citizen doesn't have any interviews? Maybe higher fees, stricter background checks, more questions on the form to answer, and more proof of relationship, but as far as U.S. citizen there are no interviews for I-129F that I know of.

There are lots of NOA2s coming in mail without an update on case tracker.

I believe they are talking about the beneficiaries interview process.  Maybe a misquote?  I haven’t heard of any interview for the US citizen. Come to think of it, that would not surprise me either. I think this year will see almost a complete shutdown to all immigration. We have already seen that extended family is pretty much shut down. The real concern is if the extended family includes children of the beneficiary.
